simple player scale, is Maye a superstar? No ... is he a ballhawk safety? No ... is he a leader? Yes ... is he a captain? Yes ... main question is he replaceable? Yes ... Marcus albeit a good coverage safety he can be replaced for the simple fact of his age... Not worth overpaying for good when long term we need greater production to this point he hasn't showed... They gave him a fair offer but he expected premium money even though he had only 2 interceptions both circus catches both with his backside... For the compensation he was seeking maybe those easy ones he should've caught then he would have an argument to seek more then he was offered but I will guess they will attempt to draft his replacement within the next 2 drafts!!!

My argument isn't with his pay or or his contract demands or even what the team offered him . My argument is simply why Jet fans always feel the need to bad mouth every Jet player who's involved in a contract squabble with the franchise . It's business, they either work it out or the player moves on . Either way, why bad mouth or denigrate a player because he's trying to get the best contract he can . ?

players want to best I get it but their agent overhypes their value to the player then when the agent isn't able to get that deal then the player turns his back on the team not the agent...

sometimes it is better to have the player negotiate his own value with the front office then let the agent work out the terms of said contract, more so that it is not a he said she said argument... at the same time when a player doesn't get the money he believed the agent in question said he would get they go directly to social media to express their displeasure...

not saying Maye did this but I did see his agent tweet out his displeasure about the team/organization...

as for fans towards players and/or organization they have the right to express their peace but at the same time what you don't get all the money the franchise gets from advertisements via television deals and merchandise sales are because the fans are forking over the dollars which in turn pay the players and coaches and front office...
