Simply put, trading Sam and using the #2 pick to replace him instead of trading that pick and accumulating multiple picks in the top three rounds and futures is a mistake.
Caveat

if Wilson turns into a HOF QB then the point will have been proven and a new breed of Jet fan will emerge.

Look at what the 49ers gave up to move to #3. Was a nice haul for Miami. Moving up to #2 might have added a couple more #2 picks that would have been great building blocks for the Jets while keeping Darnold for next years QB to be drafted.

Draft scouting has become too sophisticated.
I liked the old days, when a team could draft a guy named Joe Jones from a school like Southwest Missouri A&I Male Nurses College who was 6'8", 296 Pounds and could run the 100 yard dash (The distance they used back then) in 9.6 seconds. And he played tight end because he was the slowest receiver on his team.
Now a-days, a guy like that can't sneak through the top two rounds because nobody heard of him.

I agree that could have been an awesome position to put the team in and is what I wanted to happen. but, knowing that, as well as having more information and insight on Darnold they still chose to move on from him and start over at QB. I have been a Jets fan for 42 years and consider myself quite knowledgeable on the Jets and football in general. With that said I know nothing compared to those that do it for a living. (Except maybe Gase) they chose to move on and I support that decision 100%
