So if/when this is proven to be completely wrong, will CBS go ahead and revoke their own media privileges?

Really Smith & Williams are both missing from that list, and we should get a "D" because we didn't overpay for Huff. Easy to throw shade, but I see ZERO recommendations on what they should have done instead! It's worthless reporting

New York Jets: D+

Key additions: QB Tyrod Taylor, OL John Simpson, CB Isaiah Oliver,

Key re-signings: K Greg Zuerlein, P Thomas Morstead

Key departures: DE Bryce Huff

Only Dallas Cowboys All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons (21.8%) had a higher quarterback pressure rate than Bryce Huff (21.3%) in 2023. New York letting a 25-year-old Huff out of the building is a travesty. Elite pass-rushers aren't easy to come by, which is why most of them never hit the free agency market at all. The Jets did receive offensive reinforcements to their backup quarterback spot with Tyrod Taylor coming over from down the hall with the Giants and offensive line, their biggest need on the entire team. Aaron Rodgers' offensive line has to be better in 2023 -- their 13 offensive line starting combinations were the most in the NFL while they surrendered 63 sacks, tied for the fourth-most in the NFL in 2023. John Simpson started all 19 games played for the Ravens in 2023. That's exactly the kind of durability up front New York is thirsting for. New York further solidified its line with the signing of Smith, who enjoyed a stellar run with the Cowboys.

Huffs contract is a steal. We're paying more for his lesser replacement.
Huff gets 4.35 million this year, 7.5 in 25, and 11.3 in 26 with 4 void years following. JD as usual messed up.

Is that before the Smith and Williams signings? Either way, I really don't trust anything CBS, financial partners of the New England Patriots, say about the Jets.

It appears it was which would make it extremely premature and completely worthless. How do you grade free agency after a week and a ton of players still unsigned? It's worthless reporting

Add T. Smith, M Williams, even injury prone, better than last year.
Jets have a player that’s going to be a huge difference for this team this year, it’s…
Aaron Rodgers. He’s, basically, a new addition because he only played 4 offensive snaps last year.
T Smith over D Brown= Upgrade
J. Simpson over Tomlinson = Upgrade
Tippman over McGovern= upgrade
Healthy AVT= Upgrade
M. Moses over every schlepp that played RT last year= Upgrade
So, if our entire line is an upgrade from last year and the QB is significantly upgraded,
Guess what, you will see the best version of Breece Hall, G. Wilson, T. Conklin, J. Ruckert, all of those players are essentially being upgraded from their ‘23 selves.
Add all of that, to a top line defense that has never really played with a lead, basically had to be mistake free.
All of this, and we still have the draft to go.
I also think McDonald is going to go off this year. I’m sure he hears of all the, shoulda kept Huff stuff. I’m sure his going balls to the wall this offseason to show everyone how good he really is.

So many question marks there. Both tackles, RG, QB and #2 WR returning from surgery. Remember when Bell was signed, he instantly made the O line, QB and WRs better.....
Don't expect anything more than what the rest of the team gave last year. Breece and Wilson are legit stars. Conklin is a nice piece, Ruckert needs a lot of development and McDonald was a bad pick. But at least you didn't say Kuntz would be the next Gronk....

Every team has question marks.
How many games do the Bills win if J Allen went down series 1?
Breece did what he did behind that dogshit oline and defenses stacking the box, he’s going to go off with a revamped, better oline and Rodgers under center. G. Wilson has had back to back 1,000 yd season’s with Zach Wilson as his primary QB and no #2 receiver, we haven’t even scratched the surface of this kid yet.
People were talking Super Bowl about the Jets last year, this team, on paper, is better.
This should get a huge chuckle, but they are in their second year also, in Hacketts “system.”

I don't disagree that they're question marks, but what was the alternative? IMO we have signed and traded for the best options available; who else could we have gotten? Trading takes two partners and just because we want a player doesn't mean the other team has any interest in giving them up (see Devante Adams).

So yes, we have question marks, we have injury concerns, we still have holes, and we lack depth. But my question is, what should we have done? Go back into next year with the same players? We've addressed positions of weakness; how could we have done better with limited cap, limited assets, limited picks?

We really didn't go after the best available. We were pretty inactive for the first round of free agency. There's a reason players like Smith had no other offers.
Big names mean nothing in free agency, especially when they are older and coming back from surgery. Plenty of very good young offensive lineman were available. We signed washed up has beens for 1 year. Granted JD was in a tough position, but a position he created. Last couple of off seasons there were young above avg to very good O Line available in FA and he went Duane Brown. Then doubled down giving him an extended deal, leading to more dead cap.
Like it or not Douglas created the roster holes, the dead cap, the lack of picks and he repeated those same mistakes again in year 5...

How good is the line going to be when Brown, moses and AVT go on IR?
Hackett has no system

Ok, then who was a better Tackle to sign? Who was a better WR? Evans was never available and had ZERO interest in coming here, so like the players or not, I'd like to know who we missed out on to sign the guys we signed?

It's making the best of the hand you've been dealt. We can't play chips we never had.

Onwenu or Eluminor would have been me choice at tackle. Young players who have been improving each season. Would have several years instead of one and done, if they manage to stay on the field.
Pittman or Brown. At WR.
Again, I'm talking JDs repeatedly doing the same thing over and over. Your not getting that. JD had the chips but went all in on a 2 7 off suit. 5 times....

Patriots made Mike Onwenu one of the highest paid OL in the league, so to me that wasn't a realistic target, add to that there are serious questions on can he duplicate he Patriot performance outside of that system. Add to that, he is a guard not a Tackle so doesn't fit the bill and could not replace the Smith signing.

Jermaine Eluminor contract was much more reasonable but he is a RT, so you feel that would have been money better spent than trading to bring back Moses? He's three years younger than Moses, but Moses PFF grade 77.6, Eluminor 68.5. Not to mention Moses 3 years contract is on par with what Eluminor got for 2 years.

I agree that we didn't get younger and we added rentals, but we have virtually no assets, we are sitting at bottom 3 in cap space and we have a ton of holes to fill. IMO JD has done a good job of finding starters to rebuild the OL with the limited resources he had at his disposal. We added a top 3 LT (when healthy), a solid RT, and a bulldog at Guard. Injury risks? Of course, but that goes from 1-53. I like the pieces that we've added so far.

Eluminor plays both sides of the line, He's just reaching his potential and the versatility is a big bonus. Moses is only on a 1 year deal, cost a pick and trade of picks plus is coming off surgery.
Key to your post is the when healthy part. Sure injury can happen to anyone, but older players with length health issues are much more likely to be injured.
Plus your still ignoring the most important part of the post you took exception too, I refuse to credit JD for doing the best he could understand the circumstances, since he single handily created the situation.

Oh I'm not ignoring, just engaging in healthy debate LOL. I don't disagree that he created this problem, but nothing we can do about that. Based on current circumstances, I think he did a good job.

We went into the offseason in a horrible position (and yes he caused that), but he still managed to rebuild the entire OL and pickup a #2 WR. Will it work? Who knows LOL. But at this point I feel we're in a better situation as a whole.

Simpson is by no means a Bulldog Guard. He is a piece of shit and it will show as soon the season starts. Other than that, JD has not done a bad job. I do feel like the Offensive line could have been handled better with maybe one (1) good, strong young stud.

I'll agree that in a vacuum he did a great job.
I'm not sold that we are in a better place than last season though. With 3 of the 5 coming off of surgery, Brown and Moses likely to miss camp and AVT not likely to be ready before the first game. 3/5 of the line will not have practiced or played a snap together before game one. By the time AVT returns, Brown could be done for the year.
I hope you are right and I am completely wrong. The O line is crucial with Rodgers returning from his surgery and past 40

I agree with both of you here.

in theory we got a lot better on the line and as I’ve said before, about as good as we could have one given who was available and without over paying like hatnlvr

i also agree with you, that if these guys aren’t ready to start the season and they don’t get any reps together before the season, then Rodgers will be out again before we ever see this new line play together for the first time

if the over/ under on Rodgers snaps survived is 10 and Brown, Moses and AVT aren’t starting the season, I’m taken under
