What about if the "Baylor guy" turns into the real thing, an elite QB when he competes with Fitzpatrick for the starting job in 16?
Well, I'll be dancing on cloud nine if that's the case.
But I think your real question is what do we do if we have more than one talented QB when Petty becomes the real deal?
My answer is who gives a sh*t? Having too much talent at any one position is a great problem to have.
But the idea still remains..... Keep drafting QB's. Make that QB competition better and better each and every season by continually drafting QB's until we are certain we have a Kenny O'Brien on our hands.
Odds are we'll never come up with a Peyton Manning. We'll never come up with a Joe Montana. But we can get a Kenny O'Brien more often and that IMO is enough for the Jets to win it all.
