TRAVIS-16x9-UPDATED

The Jets stayed on the offensive Saturday during the NFL draft, selecting Florida State QB Jordan Travis in the 5th round.
The Travis selection comes on the heels of yet another Joe Douglas trade. The Jets GM packaged a pair of sixth-round picks (Nos. 185 and 190) to obtain Philly's 171st pick and grab Travis.
"It is a freaking dream come true," Travis said. "It still hasn't hit me yet. My emotions are kind of everywhere right now. Just to see the joy on my family's face, it has been such a journey and to get where we are today is such a blessing."
In his sixth college season and fifth at FSU, Travis (6-1, 200) had 20 TD passes to two interceptions with 63.9% accuracy while leading the Seminoles to an 11-0 mark with a No. 5 national ranking. In Game 11 against North Alabama, Travis fractured and dislocated his left ankle to end his season and effectively the 'Noles' season as well.

After going 13-0 to win the ACC title, they were left out of the College Football Playoff but did receive a bid to the Orange Bowl against the reigning national champion Georgia. The Bulldogs defeated the Seminoles,63-3.
"It sucked for sure, but I know at the end of the day God has a plan," Travis said of his injury and the 'Noles ending. "I have a great supporting cast. My family is great, friends are great, teammates are great at Florida State. So, every day I am waking up and I am looking at where my feet are, living where my feet are at."

Travis still managed to earn First-Team All-ACC honors after accounting for 27 total touchdowns. In addition, in 2022, Travis completed 64% of his passes for 3,214 yards, 24 touchdowns and 4 interceptions, earning Second-Team All-ACC honors and showed notable improvements as a passer after being known primarily as a dual-threat QB his first two seasons in Tallahassee.
"I am a playmaker," Travis said. "I would say that is the main thing. I make plays when everything breaks down. I am just a baller, I am a competitor. Every single time I get on the field, I want to dominant the guy across from me and a winner that is main thing for me. Throughout my career, I fell in love with winning so much and I hate losing so I will do everything in my power to win."

Travis is a good leader who compiled a 21-3 starting record in 2022-23. He has embraced the rehab process thus far, and if he clears all the medical hurdles, will have a great opportunity to learn the pro game from Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor.
"It's been a grind, but I love it," Travis said. "I love this type of stuff, I love having to wake up every single day and make a decision, make a choice on who I am going to be every single day. I just love the work and I love to see improvement every single day. So yeah man it has been a journey, but it has been a blessing from the man upstairs.
"I can't wait to meet Aaron and Tyrod and just pick their brains every single day, see how they treat their teammates, how they carry themselves, the off the field, on the field and just learn the things and I freaking can't wait."
The Jets addressed the offense with each of their first five picks in the draft – Olu Fashanu (Rd. 1, No. 11 overall), WR Malachi Corley (Rd. 1, No. 65), RB Braelon Allen (Rd. 4, No. 134), RB Isaiah Davis (Rd. 5, No. 173) and Travis.

This was the QB I had at the top of my list. I knew they weren't going QB in the first, so I had Travis and Pratt as the two I most wanted, and then a pretty big gap to the others.

I don't know what this kid will turn into, but no other QB has ever been drafted into this good of a QB room. He sounds like a humble, grateful kid which is rare with his generation.

And he is being put into a good situation. No pressure, no expectations, both in terms of the current QB room and in terms of draft placement. He can develop without all that pressure.

Gotta give JD and Saleh some credit here. This is the kind of kid they are trying to find and bring to this team. Might be why they didn’t mind passing over other guys and trading down

Doing this makes the Rodgers acquisition worth it. Travis is in such a better spot than any of their previous QBs. He can heal, develop, and then step up into a better team than any QB shy of Sanchez had stepped into.

I’m a little excited about this. Hate to admit it.

listening to these new kids talk, I’m impressed.

I’ll post the RB interview next. Sounds like a good kid too. I just watched it

This is a good Kid with a strong work ethic. The way He went after His rehab shows that. High character guy. One of the reasons why I hoped they drafted him. Ideal situation for a young QB. Hopefully something comes of it.

Now i got two teams with Shrimp QB.s for my future. Feels like midget football. With the over & under we are both in the under. Lets hope he can see out of the foxhole.

Truly a great kid. He is a definite leader and a class açt.
I don't think he will be a successful NFL QB. I see him possibly becoming very similar to Tyrod Taylor who ironically enough will likely be his mentor here. I hope I am wrong because he really deserves success

Where there is a will there is a way.......I hope he is but if not we will be searching again for a qb soon.

Who’s that qb that played 2 life times in the NFL? Don’t think too many expected him to do what he did either

if we can put the right team around a qb for once, like that other guy always had, maybe we can have a good qb too

as you guys have stated, this kid is in the best position to succeed that a Jet QB has been in in a long time

I hate to say this, I truly do but I think the Jets may have actually gotten it right this time with the QB. Maybe not drafting the right QB but he was drafted where he was supposed to be and if he turns out then great. If he doesn’t then it doesn’t really hurt us that bad at all!

except that we need to find life after Rodgers & that means at least another year

Hey like all things, it's a shot. I feel better taking a chance on this Kid than I did with Zach. I saw nothing in Zach's film that warranted a pick that high.

I wanted Milton...the Pat's took him.. but someone to watch and learn ...hopefully the CS sticks with wins in the playoffs for this to be worthwhile because no playoff wins... New regime comes and no ties to developmental players
