Michael Crabtree signs with Raiders

This signing has no bearing on their draft plans. ( don't believe they were going Wr at four regardless). M Crabtree is just competition , and might be competing with James Jones- similar player for a roster spot.
What it might do is open the possibility the Raiders trade Wr Andre Holmes( browns are said to be interested in acquiring him)
Browns have interest in both Rod Streater & Andre Holmes. Streater ain't available but Holmes could be for right price, says Travis Benjamin

Raiders will probably draft two Wr's in this draft. Just might not be with there first pick. Right now If season started today, I could see the Raiders going with Brice Butler 6'3 215 4.36 40 vj and Rod Streater 6'3 195 sub 4.4 on outside and Michael Crabtree 6'1 215 in the slot.
Brice Butler when coming out of high school was the number 1 or number 2 Wr in the state of Georgia.(Julio Jones was the other). Every offseason Butler, Julio Jones, and Calvin Johnson work out together in the offseason.( friendship he developed with Julio Jones)
if Raiders don't draft a Wr at four than they most likely will draft the best one at 35 in the second round.

Jmo I don't believe Raiders are going Wr at four ( has nothing to do with Crabtree signing) I think they are going best pass rusher on their board.( Williams doesn't have to be there). Doesn't have to be De either the pass rusher. Three ex NFL Lb's are making the key decisions for the Raiders ( Reggie Mckenzie- Gm , Jack Delrio - HC , and Ken Norton Jr- DC) Can't see them passing up one of the pass rushers.
here would be Raiders front seven now. Lde Justin Tuck Ldt Justin Ellis Rdt Dan Williams Rde Benson Mayowa. wlb Sio Moore MLB Curtis Lofton Sslb Khalil Mack ( who moves to De on passing downs). Malcolm smith would come in at MLB on passing downs
Now I don't know the pass rusher they prefer. My guess is Vic Beasley( Delrio - Von Miller in his defense)

There is a better chance to find a Wr later in the draft, than a pass rusher.
Also there three Wr on their roster that worth mentioning why they might not go Wr in the first. Rod streater is back after missing most of last year due to injury. Brice Butler - has the whole package and his numbers are very similar to Kevin White . ( size, Speed, Vertical jump, and three cone). Seth Roberts- who. He was one of the best Wr in camp last year that Raiders wanted him to get a little stronger.( hid him on practice squad)
No one know who Seth Roberts Is, but everyone in Raider organization is very very high on him.

Just my gut feeling but I be surprised if they took a wr with their first pick. WR is way down the list of positions of importance.( don't need a number 1 type Wr to win).
The premier positions in the draft are 1. QB 2 LT 3. Pass Rusher . ( 2 and three could be reverse). It hard to pass on those premier positions for a Wr, that history has shown you can find a pretty good one in the later rounds.
Finding that pass rusher opposite Khalil Mack is just as important as finding a number 1 Wr.( unlike Wr, the quality of pass rushers after the first round , there Is a very big drop off .
Raiders are going to draft two wr's probably in this draft ,but there is a good chance it won't be till the second round.
The Biggest help to Derek Carr is fixing the running game. ( was a different Qb when they were able to run the football) Out is the FB position , and Te who can't block. ( M Rivera) looks like they will have two Te's that can block Lee Smith and Jermaine Gersham( expect him to sign when he recovers from back surgery- Raiders doctors caught the injury)
the Raiders are going to do a lot of what Carr did at Fresno st. They want to spread a defense out, and make it impossible to be able to put 8 in the box.
