New York Jets offensive line coach Mike Devlin is leaving to accept the same position with the Houston Texans, a league source confirmed.

Devlin, one of at least three coaches on last year's staff under contract for 2015, was the longest-tenured member of the Jets' coaching staff. He was a holdover from the Eric Mangini regime, starting in 2006. He took over the offensive line in 2013. Previously, he coached the tight ends and helped with the line.

He became the first member of Rex Ryan's old staff to leave for another team. Obviously, his former assistants are in limbo, many of them hoping to join Ryan if he lands another head-coaching job. When Ryan was fired, the assistants were told they could seek other jobs or remain to interview for their old positions.

Devlin replaces Paul Dunn, who was fired Thursday after only one season with the Texans.

Fox Sports first reported Devlin's hire.

This is one of the problems with waiting for Quinn, if that's what they are going to do. A lot of the available good coordinators, and position coaches will be signed by other teams.

Think Quinn is worth the wait, as long they are very confident he is going to sign with them. I would have to think, what ever team Quinn is going to sign with, that he has given them strong signs he'll take the job.

He lost the Browns job last year because they panicked as the Hawks when deeper into the play offs.

As long as Karl Dunbar is around, I am okay with it. Are there any others that you think make good assistants with the Jets?

I would think that if its a handshake deal like many of suggested then again like many have suggested he is already lining up his assistants. I wouldnt worry about it to much. No coaches have been signed yet. Until then I think we are ok.

I think the biggest concern with Quinn will be the offensive staff. As long as we have guys for that we should be ok. He will probably bring some of the defensive guys with him.

If Quinn comes in and makes Dunbar his DC and Baby Shanahan is the OC the rest will fall into place.. The one negative is the Jets don't have a attractive QB but then neither did Pete Carroll when he took over the Hawks..

Actually there are a few asst. on the Jets staff I like. Of course with a new HC most of them will be gone, if Rex gets a job, probably jump ship with him. As you mentioned I like Dunbar, i liked Devlin, but he's gone to the Texans. Dennis Thurman, probably go with Rex. Anthony Lynn, probably also with Rex. Heller seems to have done a good job.

Who ever the next HC is will probably bring his own staff in. If Quinn likes Dunbar, we had better hope that the Hawks lose this week end, and hired, before Rex gets a job

Devlin was a meh TE coach and the OL got progressively worse when he took that job over.
