Miserable feeling!

Jets faithful, I guess I'm still not over the sting of the last season lost yet because I don't even want to watch the playoff games. I haven't been interested in watching any of the sports shows or even really listen to sports radio. Its like since the Jets lost, I have this true empty feeling that I either haven't felt period or in awhile. Probably since the 98 Championship game lost really. I believe this was the last time I truly felt that sports didnt even matter anymore. So this is truly weird for me. I'm not really interested this year in watching the playoff games, when I know our Jets should be there and they fucked it up. I guess I still just can't believe football is truly over this year for our Jets. Thoughts!

Note: Let's just call this a Jets fan group counseling session.

1. Positive thinking

Try this...think how much horribly worse you would feel if first, IK and then Ryan Fitzpatrick didn't save the 2015 Jets from another 4 or 5 win last place finish

2. Forward think

Think of the promising nucleus Mac and Bowles have put together for 2016 and beyond on both Offense and Defense plus the additional talent Mac will add in FA and the draft

Take these two steps and put your Jets gear back on proudly

I hear where your coming and do agree, especially with the forward thinking. The positive thinking part just isn't working right now for me. I guess because they had it right in the palm of their hands and blow it. Everyone knows (Jets fans, non Jets fans and even Steelers fans that will admit it) the Jets should be playing tomorrow but their not. Another thing that kills me here is it appeared the Jets had a shot to actually make the SB this year. Not necessarily because they were that good and ready for it but all the other teams had faults the Jets could capitalize off of. Now if they did make the SB, they probably would have gotten crushed by any of the NFC teams except the Redskins, Vikings and Packers but their not going to be their anyway. Thanks for the advise and this will pass soon enough just not right now.

Still, when you have a horse in the race, the entertainment level notches up significantly

These games are anticlimactic after this very memorable season

1st off. I cant care about or enjoy the playoffs until the cheatahs are out of them

2nd. When we were shutting out the Broncos in the 3rd qtr of that championship game I took a second and thought to myself that for the first time in my life I believed the Jets were about to be in the superbowl. I actually teared up. Embarrased to say. From that second on everything changed. Fumbles... belichicks defense was easily handled by Shanahan who always had his number. That was heartbraking but after that game I believed that the next year we would be in the superbowl...... Then Vinny went out week 1 against those damn cheaters. That was the worst feeling ever. EVER! and once we got rid of Mirer and went to Lucas we still just missed the playoffs. Had we rallied behind Lucas right away we may still have gone to the bowl

I don't know what next year brings. I think we may have a good GM and maybe a good coach too, but I cant base it on 1 year. It didn't take a brain surgeon to know what this team needed this year and wehad over 100 mil to spend and an easy schedule so we'll see what happens

I agree that it is most disappointing this year because if we made the playoffs we had good a chance as anyone to go to the superbowl. And we had a better shot of beating the cheatahs then any of the other afc teams in the playoffs now

Doubt any of that makes you feel better but at least you know someone shares the pain.

When I want to feel better about the Jets I think back to when we hired Richie Kotite. That makes anything else look great

Lol, I remember those Kotite days well and man did they hurt. Guess this year hurts so much because I honestly sat back and thought, if the Jets get in they can actually make it! No team in the AFC scared me, KC defense is boss but their offense can be handled and it holds them back abit, Texans wouldn't have beat us again (or atleast you figure they wouldn't), Pats we played twice hard, beat them once and almost beat them both times, Bengals I just don't believe it until I see it, Broncos might have been our biggest scare with their defense but I think we had enough to make that happen also.

Jets aren't truly ready for the SB or playoffs obviously or they would be playing right now but this was a year to capitalize and they screwed it all up. I can't remember not one year (and I'm sure this has happened) but I don't remember when the Jets controlled their own destiny and lost it because they lost the last game of the season. Maybe that's why this hurts so much. Anyway, I believe Mac and Bowles will have a better team out there next year then they did this one and we'll take a step further. Hopefully it will be 2 or 3 steps further and they'll leave us all smiling and forgetting about this year.

I've forgotten about the long ago ended 2015 season

It's 2016

Time to can the wallowing and self pity and put it behind us.

Otherwise we all start looking like "Wallowing long suffering Benigno" and NOBODY wants to look like that withered and desiccated old corpse

If I'm being pessimistic, as the Jets play for the past 47 years has made me do, then I say this:

If Parcels couldn't bring us to the big game nobody ever will. Think about that time period. Parcels with the Giants Twice and then the cheatos, went to the sb in the 4 the year. He left us after 3. after which Hess died , cheaerchick shafted us, took most of Parcell's coaching staff with him and then when Edwards comes here and dismantle s us , belichick takes a dozen of our former players and builds a dynasty that still haunts us 15 years later.

Pessimistically looking at it I say, everyone is a year older next season and we have a much harder schedule, so we take a step backward.

If I'm being optimistic, which is hard for a long time Jet fan to be, then I say this:

I think we finally have a smart gm who is a football guy more then a money guy. He should bring us some more solid players next year. We have a new coach who was on Parcell's staff somewhere along the line and maybe he will be a Parcell's type coach. I think behind the scenes he lights into the players when they need it and he will learn from this season and get better.

Time will tell which view is the correct view. I'm hoping its the second one:)

Not that it matters but had we made the playoffs we would have been 2 weeks from the championship game vs cheatahs. Or if we were even luckier vs. Kansas city. But we didn't so we're not:(

Yeah, thinking positive right now is just really hard to do. I just can't believe the Jets blow it on the last game of the season. I dont think they have ever done that period! This stings bad but it is what it is. Icing on the cake is the Bengels lose to the Steelers in a hard fought low scoring battle and that could of been us advancing in the playoffs. Idiots!!!

you're right and what makes this even worse is the fact that it probably doesn't even matter to Rex Ryan that his team did nothing as long as he stopped us from making the playoffs and especially going further than he did with us his first year that's probably all that he cares about and we allowed him to do it to us and have that good feeling sucks ass real bad but it is what it is

There is no counseling that's going to fix all the emotional damage that goes along with following this team besides them winning a SB. And god knows that's not going to happen anytime soon.

This team brings a certain level of disappointment to each and every one of us. Many kudos to all those who stuck around and continued to stick around being jets fans!

Certainly not before your Pats or your Buffalo Rexies

I feel most of us here expected our team playing this week. Why not? We were riding high, on the longest run this year, thinking we're peaking at the right time, with the Steelers giving us a break losing to the Ravens. I think we had one more mild December Sunday in Buffalo things go our way, But the way the rain came down in Cincy yesterday, it would have been a huge challenge. I enjoyed seeing a QB like Fitz settle the position for once. I'm uncertain about his ability to throw downfield in adverse conditions.

Indeed. Say what you want, the Jets mostly have a very loyal fan base. There are, of course, exceptions, but most fans stick with the team.

What bothers me most are those who have already abandoned the team, but put on a show like they haven't.
