Nobody knows what Mo is asking and we don't have much money to spend. What is Mac supposed to do?? I want MO back, but if he is asking for more than we can afford even if he is worth it then we have to let him walk.

If we can lock up Mo it frees additional money to sign Fitzpatrick. Right now Mo counts against our cap at the Franchise Tag cost. Not exactly a cap guru but that is my understanding from everything I have read.

I don't think Mo has signed his tender. Maybe we should Josh Norman him and then we can sign whoever we want.

I am surprised this was not done last year, when there was a lot of flexibility under the cap to structure an extension. I understand delaying it some, but it has put the team in a very difficult position.

Now, the best they would get for him in a compensatory pick would be a third. Is he worth more on the open market? You have to consider dealing him, if you think he's worth more than a third.

My guess is the franchise has decided it's best to move forward with Sheldon and Leonard.

It's beyond stupid to not make a deal with a DL that's 27 and has just started to reach his peak. Is 15 sacks a crazy number? Because that's what we could be giving up, and then spend the next five years looking for a DL that can get to the QB. 3 years from now the contract he is looking for will likely be a bargain with the way contracts have been growing.

This contract negotiation could have been handled two years ago, and for far less money than it will likely cost today.

Complete failure by two sets of management to sign your best, most valuable defensive player.

they like Richardson better so he will need a big contract and you also have Williams. if we were not so deep at DL we would of signed Mo already. he is probably a goner

Richardson may be the better player but I'd rather have MO and let Richardson go.... Characther issues are to big a concern for me to give him the $$ and not MO

Unfortunately I think the Cox deal just priced Mo out of our market. He is most likely a goner.

Or maybe a complete failure from Mo. He is the common denominator here.

Wow. The Eagles have really screwed us this season with two stupid contracts.

Yeah their idiot front office is batting 1000. First give Bradford way too much (only to draft his replacement immediately afterwards), and now the freakn Cox deal!!

No matter what you think of Wilkerson, we don't have the cap space to satisfy his demands:

A long-term contract between the Jets and Wilkerson appears unlikely.

The two sides are far apart and the gap may have grown even wider this week when the Eagles handed defensive lineman Fletcher Cox a six-year, $103 million extension that includes a $26 million signing bonus.

Don’t think that deal went unnoticed by Wilkerson, whose asking price now starts at the Cox deal.

“I think he’s a great player. Do I feel like I’m better than him? Yes,” Wilkerson said. “Not to be cocky, it’s just a confidence thing. Everybody in the league that plays feels like they’re the best player at their position. If you ask any NFL player, they’re going to say they’re the best at their position.

“I feel like I’m better than him and whatever [his deal is], I deserve that or better.”

One thing for sure, if we are going to extend Wilkerson for the kind of numbers he's demanding, or even close, we have to completely give up on the idea of re-signing Fitz. Thats STEP 1 and its a must. I'm okay with that, I'm fine with moving on to the young QB's, but if anyone thinks we can extend Wilkerson AND re-sign Fitz, you are living in la-la land.

We'll have to do more than just pass on Fitz, but that part is a must if you want to extend Wilkerson.

When did Sheldon become better than Mo? And a guy who has failed 4 drug tests is generally not a wise investment

I think Sheldon has more natural ability and upside, all things being equal, but of course all things are not equal, Sheldon is THIS CLOSE to becoming the next Josh Gordon, Justin Blackman and Aldon Smith. That said, its not like he is much better than Wilkerson if he's even better at all, and admittedly that is debatable, therefore it makes more sense to keep Wilkerson and trade Sheldon if we can get something close to market value, which is at least a first round pick.

Nobody would give up a pick for a talented Mo so I doubt Sheldon can bring a good pick with his baggage. Mo will see what happens in FA where he can make more money because nobody is giving up a valuable 1st round pick. I would give Mo a deadline and if he doesn't want to sign his franchise then I Josh Norman him and move on. I doubt Mo ever sees anywhere near what he thinks he is worth.

Not exactly... as of now he is on the cap this year already foor 15.7 Million.... Next year the Jets, again as of now, have 21 Million in cap space and in 2018 the jets have over 100 million in cap space... So the organization has the means for a big contract if they wanted to sign him to a deal like Cox.... just need to be a little creative with guaranteed money, if the Organization wants him
