Out of nowhere. I don't think this changes anything with Fitz.
Just my opinion, but I feel this move will create a domino effect in the coming days that Fitz and our GM had probably agreed upon behind closed doors, let me elaborate:
*It would have looked insulting to Mo had the Jets signed Fitz before him to a block buster deal.
*Fitz could have signed with Denver before Elway settled on trading for Mark Sanchez. IMHO, Fitz knows his best chance to succeed is here in NY where the team has him with high regards and respect. The Money probably was the same amount.
*Once Fitz re-signs, i wouldn't be shocked in any way that Geno Smith will either ask to be released or asked to be traded. I know many have Geno pegged as having no brains (like my opinion of him), but he sees the writing on the wall very clearly after Fitz signs his contract (which is imminent now): The selections of Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg aren't picks that Macagnan will just be ok with just cutting from the roster to keep a player left from the old regime. Mike knows what he has in Geno. If he had confidence in him, these two respective players would not have been drafted.
The re-signing of Mo WIlkerson speaks volumes on how this regime is being ran: Close to the vest with no outsiders allowed under any circumstance. The more media outlets state that no contract can be reached, the more i speculate that one is on there way.
The more the media tries to sell me that Bryce Petty isnt ready to be the back up this season without him actually taking a pre season snap leads me to believe they know nothing on what the Jets truly have planned for this 2016 campaign.
