Mock 20th Overall: One of Three or Trade Down

I think everyone agrees with this if Jack Conklin is gone then the next valuable position should be corner and Eli Apple being only 19 at the present moment could sew up our corner back position for at least a decade. If Apple and Conklin are gone then Laquon Treadwell makes sense as he could be an immediate impact along side BMarshall and Decker.

If all three of these prospects are off the board maybe a trade down to acquire Cincy's 24th plus their 87th could be in play. I doubt the Broncos or Panther even the Cardinals are going to want to trade up but being that the Bengals are in dire need to grab a receiver in the first round one of the top four should be in play at our number 20.

Too much speculation what ifs? about Muhammad Wilkerson on the trade front, so acquiring an additional pick could be golden especially since its in the top 100.

The Jets need an OLB but they don't need to get him in the first or second round there are some sleeper talent in rounds three and four. I really don't care about the Fitzpatrick situation as he was the backup last season for Geno who took himself out being a moron. Geno is a capable bridge QB if Petty is not ready. Drafting a mid round prospect should be the game plan. At worst we could draft day trade for someone who has a comparable contract without breaking the bank to acquire him.

All this talk about the Jets needing a tight end that is media stirring shit up again about what they believe our team should be. Last year the tight ends were used to run block nothing more at times they tried to get cute pass attempts to brick hands of Kellen Davis boy how did that turn out. I also believe Jace Amaro is quietly being shopped as even though he is a receiver he can not block for shit. We currently have six options at this position.

Think our best bet should be sewing up our secondary and offensive line in the first three picks.

24. Jason Spriggs
51. Kendall Fuller
83. Nick Martin/Max Tuerk
87. Yannick Ngakaou

after those four picks, couldn't care less on who we take have a fourth and two sevens. pick up another corner, quarterback or couple of bodies that will likely end up on the practice squad.

we do have a need for punter wonder when or where they are going to get one maybe one of those day three picks.

I think the Jets stand pat at 20 and draft an BPA. Hoping for Decker or another OL. Historically, the Jets have shown more propensity to trade up in the draft many more times than trading down. I can only recall twice when they traded down - got Doug Jolly from the Raiders disaster and their second round pick UGH!. Traded down one pick with the Cards to draft Shade Tree (good pick) and pick up Johnny Johnson who never really worked out. They could trade down here cause it seems there is a plethora of WR's going after 20 so they could still get an OL.

If Lynch is on the board I suspect a trade down. Don't see to many other players at 20 someone will come down for.

Then again this is the NFlL draft anything can happen.

many NFL so called experts stated the Jets already have Lynch type of QB on the roster in both Petty and Geno...

developmental why take on a kid so raw that he will need his entire rookie contract to learn the position before he can start competing to be the backup nevertheless starter... just think if we take him he will be the highest paid backup in his 5th year if the team decides to pickup his option...

I just don't see the Jets that desperate... there are more ready prospects in the mid rounds, and say we do trade down like [MENTION=332]Bonecrusher[/MENTION] said there will be teams wanting to move up and this isn't our yesterday idiot front office they will do what is best for the team as long as it is NOT drafting Paxton Lynch...

I've got zero issues picking Lynch. Until we get the QB situation resolved, it's all for naught. I don't think any QBs on the roster are definitively the answer, so you keep going back to the well.

Now I am not advocating definitely taking a QB in the first, but i do think we should take one in the first three rounds

Let's remember that as much as we want Petty to turn out, he is still a long shot. We need as many bullets as possible on the roster to fill the QB spot, because the longer we are waiting on Fitz, the less likely I feel he is coming back. There seems to be a large amount of pride involved on his part, and I wouldn't be shocked to see him go into 2016 unsigned and simply wait until the first QB gets injured and land there.

Conklin, Apple, Mackenzie, or Coleman. That's who I want. IF we pick Lynch, I won't be upset b/c that means Mac believes he is a future franchise QB, and I have to trust Mac and Co. So excited for tonight!
