Now that the draft has passed, Maccagnan has decided to part ways with Brendan Prophett, Director of Pro Personnel (according to a tweet from Brian Costello). He's putting a bigger stamp on the front office.

And scouts Rick Courtright, David Hinson, Cole Hufnagel, Chris Prescott and Seth Turner are also gone, according to Costello.
Just saw most of our scouting department was let go...

my guess is that scouts have contracts that run through the draft. so he couldn't get rid of the existing scouts until after the draft, as well as couldn't hire his own set of scouts from other teams until after the draft. not an unexpected house cleaning in my book

agreed. It was a shock when Idzik didnt clean house after either of his drafts, to be honest. I thought Bradway would be gone after the Milliner/Richardson picks.

Mac has been in scouting for twenty years or thereabouts. When you are an NFL scout you spend a lot of time on the road, one college town to the next, your scouting brethren often attend the same games and events and stay in the same hotels, and you naturally develop close friendships and ties with likeminded individuals in the scouting community.
At some point you develop a list of scouts in your minds-eye that you would like to bring with you if you are ever fortunate enough to run your own NFL team. Idzik never had this experience because he wasn't a scout, thus he stuck with the staff he inherited. Mac, OTOH, I am sure has a list of guys he trusts and respects that he wants to surround himself with, only most of them were still under contract elsewhere when he was hired, just like our scouts were still under contract, so he had to wait a year to build the staff he really wants.

good the less of the old regime the better
Not only does it make sense the timing because of their existing contracts, although they could have gotten rid of them 3 months earlier and just paid them, ..you would be throwing away all their information and reports from the entire past college football season....I don't think they could have brought in 5 or 6 new scouts and properly evaluated players.....Mac got hired in middle late January.....I am sure if they got released they wouldn't have opened the vault to give them to the Jets. Why let them go somewhere else from Jan to april and give another team the information they tabulated which was done on the Jets dime....I am sue the information is and was still useful....
