My guess here is we are going to build to win now with the Cap space we have but be wise about it. We have enough space to sign 2-3 big Free Agents as well as extend Wilkerson and Richardson. The beauty on going out and getting a guy Like Marshall is with our cap space it makes sense to take on this contract, actually saves us some space over Harvin, and still draft a young WR to groom.
Same thing if we go out and give Revis a 3 year deal and over pay for him we can afford to do it while still grooming McDougle and Milliner, if they can stay healthy. And draft a CB somewhere to keep the young blood there to groom and grow...
And if we sign Spiller even better cause he's proven and young and will come at a decen price
Same goes if we do get Iupati... Buys us time to groom the young guys we have and draft a guy.... In essence we can win right away, especially if we get some good play at QB, as well as build for the future... Since these FA contracts run out in 3 years and we will be back way under the cap and hopefully drafted well with good talent on the roster to replace the guys just passing their prime
With that said not one of the QBs in FA excite me. Rather stick with Geno...( I can't believe I just typed that) Fitzpatrick turned the ball over more than any QB in the NFL from 2009-2013.. Yes he was better last year but his tendency is to Turnover the ball... I rather see Geno play and learn from Gailey and draft someone this year, as well as next year...
