Does this make sense to you? $165MM for renovations that insure that no NHL or NBA team can play here?
In accordance with today's culture, concerts seem to be now mostly Big Time events with Big Time, TWITTER: look at me I'm at (insert non-creative commercial name) show Aren't I kewl?. Gone are the days of My Father's Place and the Fillmore. Gone are the days of discovery by going to a concert to check out an up and comer. So maybe the arena makes sense on that level but not on a musicality level. The sound, visuals and intimacy are all lost. Most people either have to watch on a screen or stand on their chairs. At these prices, I have to ask, "Really?" (OK, OK another old guy rant)
I hated this place anyway, partially because of the Nazi Police during the concerts when it first opened (all hail the Nassau Seven ! ... uh long story), partially because IMHO, it was not the palace that was promised to compete with MSG when it was proposed.
BTW: Didn't Billy Joel hang it up awhile ago?
