Hi All - I installed the user tagging:
We have added a new feature to the forum.
User Tagging allows you to mention your fellow forum members in posts. You can do this by typing the @ symbol immediately followed by the user name. Example: @ucrenegade @flgreen [MENTION=82]sg3[/MENTION].
(I spoke to support and unfortunately, you have to type their full username at the moment. They are working on having a drop down menu appear after just typing a few characters.)
The mention creates a link to the member's profile and it notifies that user that they have been mentioned in a post.
Apparently, you can do the following (can't figure it out and busy at work at the moment so if someone can play around and figure it out, thanks!):
You can also tag users in a thread, rather than in just a single post. This can be done by hitting the "Tag User" button at the top of the thread. All people tagged using this method will be listed at the top of the thread. For example, I could tag myself in my journal by hitting this button and typing my name. This tag will be shown at the top of every page of the thread, rather than just being a mention in a single post.
Again, the member will be notified and a link will be provided to their profile.
Another feature associated with this add-on is that you can now be notified when a post of yours has been quoted by another member.
It is important to note that all preferences for these features are able to be customized in your USER CONTROL PANEL. See the "User Tagging" settings at the bottom of the list located on the left side of your User CP. Here you can edit your notification preferences and email preferences.
Also in your User CP is an option to subscribe to specific #hashtags .
This feature would be good if you would like to subscribe to all posts about #Geno , for example.
