New quarterback trade possibility

well the title of the thread notwithstanding, we both know that there is absolutely no way in hades the seahawks are trading wilson.

and if he was miraculously available, about 20 other nfl teams would be interested, so it's not like he would just be there for the jets taking.

i agree with you that wilson has potential to be an all-time great QB based on the start of his career. and right now, i would have him in the top 7 or so of the league. so we aren't differing much.

but with all due respect to the OP and the "rumor" that seattle may look to trade wilson, we both know it is completely unrealistic. therefore, a poster saying that they like the potential of petty has nothing to do with wilson. he is not available and it is very, very, very unlikely he will become available.

im not arguing if its likely; you are correct, we agree there. We even agree on his upside as I remember you being high on him heading into that draft (funny, it was Terry Bradway that tried to draft him for us and he was shot down in the draft room if you believe those reports).

Nevertheless, trying to keep the QB discussion on topic, which was tied to if we should consider trading for Wilson if available...as we have 5,789,908,763 and counting threads on Geno, Geno vs Fitz, Fitz, Bryce Petty being the next Joe Nammath, Bryce Petty being the greatest ever, Bryce Petty Fans United, and We can Do No Wrong with Bryce Petty...i thought not turning this into another Geno, Fitz, Petty, or some mutation of the 3 would be a good thing...for a change...

As long as we are on the subject of Russell Wilson -- why does he get a free pass for throwing the interception that lost Seattle the Super Bowl. I know it was a bad call by Carroll, but you cannot throw a pick in that situation, yet Wilson seems to get a pass. He is a great young QB, but he threw a huge pick that likely cost his team the SB, yet he gets a free pass.

Im not sure he feels like he got a free pass...

Does Peyton Manning get free passes for all the super bowl and play-off games lost? I dont think so. But Wilson is 26, with a lot of football in him. I kind of feel that's why a 2 time SB appearing QB in his first 3 years gets a little bit of a pass...he did overcome his worst NFL career game versus the Packers and kept Aaron Rodgers from collecting any more than his 1, Brett Favre like, ring...then marched his team down to the 1 for what should have been another SB ring. He still looked clutch 4th quarter until that pick.

But at 26, with all that football left (likely close to 10 years)...there is a lot of mileage to still put on the kid.

I just never see any criticism of Wilson. I am not taking away anything he has accomplished, but he still threw a huge pick in a huge spot and its like he is made of teflon in the media. All the criticism was of Pete Carroll, but if Wilson throws the ball away in that situation - Seattle still has two shots to win the SB.

In my view, he was not clutch in the 4th quarter until that final drive. Two three and outs and 0 for 2 with a sack in the 4th until the last drive. Give him credit for getting the Seahawks in position to win during the 2 minute drive, but I think he deserves some of the blame for the way the game ended. You absolutely cannot throw a pick in that spot, yet I never see any criticism of Wilson. He deserves a ton of credit (which he gets) for everything he has accomplished in 3 seasons, but he also deserves some of the blame for the way that game ended. Just my opinion.

Just read some new story about Russ, some nutso public declaration about abstinence with the GF/fiancee

Keep it to yourself Russ

And another reason to NOT reopen the Circus at Florham Park by, as some posters have advocated, trading away Wilk, Fitz, Petty, multiple first rounders and who knows what else for Tebow II

Not from me. I am not on the Wilson bandwagon.
