every team has their big board with exceptions...

have to think these are the top five prospects that if they fall to the No. 20th pick would warrant no discussion in selecting them...

1) Jack Conklin, OT from Michigan State
2) Eli Apple, CB from Ohio State
3) Leonard Floyd, OLB from Georgia
4) LaQuoan Treadwell, WR from Ole Miss
5) Ezekiel Elliot, RB from Ohio State

Now of the those five both Elliot and Conklin should be gone in the top 15 leaving speculation if one of the other three will fall to the Jets at No. 20... All three are an immediate need, with future concerns in play this year... Some speculation that Floyd will be gone as early as the Giants pick No. 10 and no later than our pick at No. 20... Corner Eli Apple was a early 2nd round pick that has climbed into top 15 consideration and would be a great value due to his age and skill set... With Brandon Marshall entering likely his final year of his career and Eric Decker on the tail end of his that investing in a receiver to be the heir apparent for either one of them would be a smart move while providing a clear cut 3rd starting receiver behind those two...

Two prospects that aren't likely to fall but are considered the exception or above the top five big board have to be:

1) Jalen Ramsey, FS from Florida State
2) Myles Jack, LB from UCLA

Now there is also talk about QB Paxton Lynch from Memphis who oddly enough is a developmental quarterback at best... Rated a early 2nd round prospect getting first round consideration could be putting too much pressure on this kid to be an immediate success... Lynch has the size and strength with good mobility but looks like he has a long road ahead to compete for a starting job...

Should the Jets draft this kid, he will be at least one year behind Bryce Petty in development...

1) I would think/hope Elliot would be at the top of that list, not the bottom.

2) After Elliot I'm most interested in Conklin and Treadwell. Don't like when "2nd round guys climb up to mid-first" and worry about Floyd's lack of size. (Not sure if Aaron Maybin is a fair comparison, but that's where my mind goes).

3) Not even considering Ramsey/Jack, as I'd offer my firstborn in exchange for either pick.

4) Would be fine if we passed over Lynch, but would also be fine if we took him -- either way I'd assume (hope) the FO knew what they were doing . . .

Signing Matt Forte put Elliot No. 5 on this big board... Not saying if he was still there at No. 20 the Jets wouldn't haste to pick him... But the four positions/prospect above him right now are a bigger concern for now and near future starter potential...

Leonard Floyd is a tweener but Todd Bowles & Kacy Rodgers went down for a second private visit with Floyd and came away impressed with his body of work... Now if he is still on the board at No. 20 he could be the pick... But also heard they really like Jordan Jenkins, Floyd's counter part who is speculated to go in late round two/early round three...

I'm going with the theory that Macc is all about BPA, so his "big board" wouldn't be based on roster structure. Having said that I understand why Forte would make the pick less attractive.

And I'm REALLY hoping for Jenkins over Floyd. I admit I'm no draft junkie, but from everything I read Jenkins sounds like a guy I'd love to have on this team . . .

what is all the fuss about elliot?? i'm seeing mocks all over the place with him being a no less then a top 15 pick.. but right here at JFU his game seems to be graded as fairly pedestrian.. at least what i remember reading at the time..

obviously i'm missing something on why in a day & age when quality RB's can be found up & down the draft this kid is considered to be such hot stuff..

his attitude is a problem for me... seems he is NOT a team guy... is he that good, maybe but so will be Leonard Fournette next year's draft with higher ceiling...

I admit my opinion is based on hype.

I saw what Sanchez did when surrounded by talent and figure that's our only hope for the near future. I'm a big believer in building the trenches, but also know Macc has said that type of talent can/should be found later in the draft. So the idea of putting an electric player in the backfield is appealing and would make me more comfortable with throwing Petty into the fire (if they chose to go that route).

But if Elliot isn't what they're making him out to be then all bets are off and I'll hope Macc has some other magic plan up his sleeve . . .

Not that I know JS but this is what I have gathered:

1. Jack Conklin Tackle Michigan St.; No upside. he is what you see.
2. Shaq Lawson OLB/DE Clemson; Good Football player
3. Paxton Lynch QB Memphis; Not up to all the hype
4. K.Correa OLB Boise St. ;Watched the combine, he is too small, better as a safety. Not round 1 gamble
5. G. Ifedi Tackle Texas A&M[/QUOTE] Eh.

It truly is amazing what a crapshoot the draft is. I mean, we are potentially in the position to draft the 20th best player IN THE ENTIRE NATION, yet it feels like we'll be picking from the scraps that are left on the table!

I've never understood why teams don't go bonkers overpaying for quality scouts. You get a pipeline of young talent and it's almost impossible to NOT be successful . . .

other prospects to keep an eye on...

DT/3-4DE/NT A'Shawn Robinson from Alabama is an intriguing option to develop...

but if those five well seven prospects are off the board expect the Jets to consider Indiana's Tackle Jason Spriggs or VTech's Corner Kendall Fuller as possible options...

No love for Noah Spence?

Nobody questions his ability. But two Ecstasy busts, and reportedly a few bad impressions he's left on a few teams, and...

Spence is a boom or bust candidate. I'm not taking chances on these guys. Look at Manziel. This moron is throwing his football career away so he can drink and party all day long. The Browns are furious about that situation.

Bad knee could cause Myles Jack to drop out of the Top 10

Bad knee could cause Myles Jack to drop out of the Top 10

Based on talent alone, UCLA linebacker Myles Jack may be the best player in this year’s draft. Not only was Jack one of the best linebackers in college football, but he’s such a great all-around football player that when the Bruins needed him to he played very well at running back.
But Jack’s knee injury may keep him out of the Top 10 in the draft.

Albert Breer reports that Jack has a type of cartilage injury in his knee known as a chondral defect, and there’s debate among doctors who have examined him just how serious that will be. It’s possible that some team with a high pick will give Jack a clean bill of health, but Breer reports that teams outside the Top 10 are doing additional research on Jack with the idea that he could fall to them.

Jack’s agent has disputed reports that Jack’s bad knee could shorten his career, but Jack’s knee has been a common topic of conversation throughout the draft process.

The reality of the draft process is that the people putting out negative information on Jack’s knee may actually be from teams that like Jack and hope he drops to them in the draft. We’ll find out on Thursday if it goes down that way, or if Jack remains one of the top players in this draft, as his play at UCLA suggests he should.
