1/17: The Jets are expected to cut Brandon Marshall this offseason. - Rich Cimini, ESPN
Marshall appears to have lost a step, and he reportedly caused issues in the locker room. The Jets are better off moving on and rebuilding. -Walter

1/16: The Jets will have interest in free agent quarterback Mike Glennon. - Rich Cimini, ESPN
If this is true, Jet fans should be prepared for more pedestrian quarterbacking. Glennon is ranked just one spot above Ryan Fitzpatrick in our NFL Free Agent Quarterback Rankings

Happy days are here again.......Look Mac Get us a real QB

Easier said than done. Maccagnan's choices aren't exactly plentiful. You have a bad FA QB class highlighted by Glennon and Cousins, and two QB's in the draft who are certainly not sure things in Trubisky and Watson. So it's not like there's some obvious solution to the Jets 2017 season.

I'd take Glennon if he's not asking for too much. Other than that, im good with letting Petty and Hack duke it out for the starting job.

If we are going with Petty and Hack, cutting Marshall and Deck is iffy health-wise, then how about Mike Williams at #6 and a FA OT like RReiff. Gotta give the kid QBs something to work with.

my gut tells me the only way bowles starts petty or hackenberg is if he's mandated to do so..

he's quick to say he's not concerned about his job security but even quicker to be self serving..

I agree on the last part.....but look he is getting paid to get us a team.........Patton & Ike would take no excuse get us a QB we are not losing any longer......But I do agree on petty & hack or Geno. It is up to him to get it right

Can anyone justify being excited about acquiring Glennon ?

rather have had drafted Ryan Nassib, wanted him instead of Geno Smith...

Nassib only 26, from Syracuse and has played in a few nightmarish weathered games unlike Glennon...

This is my take on Nassib: Nassib demonstrates good, if not consistently very good, N.F.L.-caliber anticipation and touch on passes 35 yards and under. He gets his feet into a throwing stance quickly, with a high release point to get the ball over defenders in tight spaces in the pocket.

His release is compact and quick. His feet might be the strongest part of his play, at least on short drops and shotgun passes with no drop.

I think he reads the field well and demonstrates good pocket presence, especially sensing pressure and desiring to get rid of the ball fast. He can climb the pocket and stay in a throwing position. When the pocket constricts, he has the ability to make accurate throws 15 to 25 yards downfield from an unbalanced position and with pressure bearing down.

He has large enough hands and good enough balance to make play fakes and stay on his feet in bad weather.

He has a quick, over-the-top release and places good zip on the ball in this range of 5-15 yards.

I like his pre-snap reads at this stage of his career. He throws into the blitz, finds the single coverage opportunities and places the ball in positions where, even if that single coverage look turns into zone, he gives the receiver a chance to make the play.

I still think the jury is out on Nassib’s arm on deep throws and whether he’ll develop one. He has the distance and velocity on deep throws from a set play like a flea-flicker, but I have doubts he’ll develop the arm to deliver the ball with velocity in that range from shorter drops or after maneuvering a tight pocket. Thus far, what I have seen in numerous games are under thrown balls with far too much arc on passes that called for more velocity.

Nassib has starter talent, and if he can develop the same arm that Tom Brady developed, he has a chance to be a good, if not very good, starter in the league.

I understand letting Marshall go, but not so sure about Decker. I'd keep him. I think Detroit is going to lock up Reiff as a top priority in the coming months. Andre Whitworth (35) and Matt Kalil (27) might be available, though. Kalil would be better based on age.

I would be 100% on board with Mike Williams. He and Hooker are my top 2 players right now for the Jets. Them and Myles Garrett. But we have zero chance of landing Garrett.

Wasn't this the guy his own college coach passed on in his first draft?
He really looked bad all pre-season against scrubs, even worse than Hackenberg

Doug Marone and the Buffalo Bills took E.J. Manuel in the 1st round (the scouting department already scouted the draft class prior to Marone being hired)... Ryan Nassib was a 3rd round graded prospect who was selected in the 4th round by the Giants...

As for his rookie preseason performance he had 1 horrible outing which was the 4th game, but prior he lit up with the number 1s and 2s... As for his short lived career his stats in 5 games 90% completion 1 touchdown and no interceptions while taking 2 sacks in relief for Eli...

Over his time at this level he actually had a QB coach worth a damn and people surrounding him where he grew to be a valuable option this free agency...

We took Geno Smith who was a reach in the second, had a late 3rd grade on him but Idzik thought he was a talent guru but was a sucker for the emotional response Smith gave on draft day (clear signs of immaturity from day one)... Maybe there was promises made, but he was not worth the headache and look at his short lived career... There was also a disconnect on who wanted Geno, whereas there was reports that scouts and a few position coaches were all for Nassib...

Almost every single report that ranked backup NFL Qbs have him ranked near if not the bottom of the league.
Some have Glennon as a possible starter
I know the so called experts aren't always correct but the vast majority are not in your camp. Neither am I .

he's attempted passes in 2 regular season games.

in 2014, he went 4-5 in a game the giants lost 27-0. in 2015, he went 5-5 in a game the giants lost 49-17 (they were down 49-10 when he threw his TD)

so let's hold off on saying he's actually accomplished anything in real nfl action. he's appeared in mop up duty and threw 9 passes in 2 games the giants were getting blown out. i somehow doubt the philly and minny defenses he faced had starters in or were sending blitzes. more likely, they were playing a soft prevent defense while allowing the clock to run down.

now he may or may not turn out to be a decent player. i'm not gonna blame him for not being able to beat out eli and get more playing time. but at this point, he's more or less as much of an unknown as petty

Well, he did play a heck of a game in the first Pinstripe Bowl vs Kansas State. He hit on several bombs but they looked like punts they were so high. Only one way to find out of he is NFL starter quality and that is for someone to start him

Still not a good fit here. Any new QB has to have some experience so the Jets would be better off with Glennon (who will be too expensive) or 热那亚史密斯 (who has maturity/leadership issues)
