New York Jets Select Sam Darnold, USC

Upgrade at center already, second most important position on the line. Still work to be done, but it's a good start.
Give Mac credit. It fell perfectly, and made the gamble to move up to #3 worth it.
Best part, they got Darnold and still have their first for next year.
No secret Darnold wasn't the highest QB on my board, I'm still spooked by USC's Sanchez, but here's the bottom line, last week Charley Casserly polled 25 NFL GM's and Scouts and asked them to pick the best QB in this draft, the guy they would take #1 Overall, and Sam Darnold won by a landslide.
It wasn't even close, Darnold received like 18 first place votes, the next guy (Mayfield or Rosen?) received 3, and the next two received 2 apiece.
Like I said, it was a blowout, an absolute rout, and these were all NFL GM's and Scouts who know a little more about football than me.
Thats why you gotta say, no matter what you think, the consensus #1 QB in the draft, by a landslide, slid to the Jets at #3

worked out well for us (for once). i didn't love the trade up at the time, but in hindsight it was a great move. likely would have cost more to move up on the clock.
hopefully the TOs can be corrected. we don't need to rush him on to the field, but i expect he will play this year.

WOW! I am surprised Darnold fell to us at 3. He was a safe pick for Mikey Mac to save his job if am cant handle the cold windy rock footballs, Mikey can say he got the best on board. Allen to Bills makes me cringe. Bills gets Allen up to speed he will be the best QB suited for weather up here. Not to mention its just like Marino facing Jets every year and beating us because we passed on him. I hope Bills screw it up at QB coach. Now lets see if a Cali QB can play in wind-rain-snow. Sanchez didnt do well.
Without question the consensus #1 QB in the draft slid to the Jets at 3, and here's how it happened: The Browns fell in-love with Mayfield (in fairness, as did I), the Giants were still committed to Eli and believe they had a chance to give him a HOF caliber RB, and BOOM!!!, just like that the guy who has been the consensus #1 QB in the draft, for months, and even won Casserly's GM's/Scouts poll by a landslide, slid right into our laps at #3
However it works out, and I'm excited and optimistic, but no matter how it works out, there's no doubt the consensus best QB in the draft slid to the Jets at 3
Thats not my opinion, its a fact.
we all hope the kid sets the league on fire.. that's a given..

I just know the Browns were going #1 with Darnold, the Giants would go #2 with Barkley and the Jets would be the idiots to go #3 with Mayfield (instead of Rosen.) Going into this season, I strongly felt that Darnold was the best QB prospect since Andrew Luck. I still think that. Now, his production this past year was not quite what it was the year before, but that potential is insane.
The primary flaw Darnold has, ball security in the pocket, can be coached. He has everything else. Accuracy, playmaking ability, a legit arm, height.
The other QBs all have flaws, too but they may not be coachable. Mayfield's height isn't coachable, nor might his off-field stuff be. Rosen's injuries aren't coachable, his commitment...maybe. With Allen, his accuracy MIGHT be coachable some, but his poor judgment on and off the field can't be.
One more point about this pick. Out of 11 mocks on nfl.com, Darnold was projected to go #1 overall in 7 of them, #3 (to the Jets) in 3 of them, and below the Jets, all the way down to #5, in only one mock.
