This is mainly a open written message to myself, if not for anyone else whom feels the way I do. Tomorrow is the draft and it is going to be an epic one. Whether that’s in a positive or negative way, remain even keel. Me personally I have tried my best not to key on any QB or QBs because I don’t want to be disappointed if he or they are not picked. I also realize whomever I would want the Jets to pick, he’d probably be the wrong one anyway so why bother?
I’m trying to just have the frame of mind of just enjoying the draft and whomever they pick, give the kid a chance to learn and develop. If it takes him a year before he’s ready than so be it but whenever he is ready, hopefully he’ll be our guy. I’m typically the type to have the mindset that if your picked in the first round, especially the top ten you should ready to go game one your rookie year. You don’t have to necessarily set the world on fire but be average at the least and get better as the years go by. Well with a franchise QB, it just may not happen immediately. Tom Brady sat a year and so did Eli Manning (if I’m correct.)
So I have to stay even keel and not draw conclusions after tomorrow or after the season starts or I’ll absolutely loss my mind with this draft. I have been waiting for years and I mean years, as we all have for the Jets to draft a true franchise QB in the first round. It can possibly and probably happens this year but whomever it is, he may not be ready to go year one or show real promise until year two or three. If he does play his rookie year.
I also have to remain even keel on the fact that other QBs may do better and win more for other teams initially or overall but it doesn’t necessarily have to mean that the Jets picked the wrong QB. Doesn’t mean that QB or QBs would have done that for our team. So to Jets82 and anyone else who feels the way I do, give this draft, QB, GM and CS a chance and trust in them all. Don’t prejudge and enjoy the ride. Remain even keel and just as they say in Philadelphia, “Trust the process!”
