This year we are really seeing the ramifications of the failed drafts of John Idzik. On any good team, there will roughly a 1/3,1/3.1/3 mix of still-good veterans, players with 3-5 years experience who are reaching their peaks, and promising young players. We don't have anyone in that middle group due to terrible drafting. Coples is gone, Milliner is gone, etc. Even Wilkerson can no longer be viewed as a sure thing.Nor can Richardson, in my opinion. What exactly is his position? Please, let's not change this to a thread about the coaching. That's a separate issue.
If you look at the Jets roster, almost all of our best players are in their 30s, past their prime years. We are like a doughnut, with a hole in that all-important middle group. Our current GM has his work cut out for him.
