You know how it is in sports. People do opposite what's expected.
TV "analysts" to G.M.s all tab Wilson for the Jets.
Watch J.D. keep Darnold, trade down, and possibly pick a QB later. Or not.
Great theatre.

Exactly. If any of those guys could predict the future, they'd be playing the stock market, or the horse races, and getting very rich.

Crazy as it sounds, I wouldn't be unhappy ( I know - double negative) with either scenario. Both have potential long lasting benefits. I've been listening to and reading various pundits and the consensus seems to be that nobody truly knows what to expect of Sam Darnold. #2, as pretty as Wilson looks throwing the ball there are a lot of skeptics out there regarding him. Since there is no sure thing, I keep coming back to trading the #2 for a pile of picks and giving Sam another year with better surrounding players and coaching. Worst case, we draft a QB next year, but this time there is a much better platform for a young player to develop.

All good points, however feel like going through another 2 win season (be it it 16 or 17 games)? That's what it would take to get a #2 pick. My time is worth more, I would take Wilson @# 2.
Doesn't matter who is around Sam, the best of teams find the quarterback in precarious, "run around" and scramble plays. (See Rodgers, Mahomes, etc.) Probably Sam's biggest flaw (knock) is his indecisiveness under the gun. Usually a bad ending.
I say wish this nice kid the best, and draft. It's not as if we have a scarce number of picks.

We could look at this in a different way. Trade the #2 for additional picks this year. A #1 of course, 2nd Rd pick, 3rd Rd pick, a #! and #2 next year. Do another trade down Preferably trading with Atlanta and Carolina adding more this year and next year. Build your team this year. You now have the ammo in next years Draft to trade for Watson, Wilson or whoever. You now have a starting caliber QB without using any draft capital from this years draft.

I dont watch ESPN since sold, mostly because its only 20% sports and 80% social issues from news media along with dirt rag fantasy crap. But all the drama of ideas about Jets doing this and that isnt interesting but irritating after watching my Jets look and be a pathetic team that cant Draft a QB including not taking Josh Allen and taking Darnold instead. That decision shocked me worse than passing on Marino. Jets will be lucky to get a 3rd or 4th pick for him. Darnold hasnt showed any improvement in his play in any matter.. not accuracy passing, footwork, reading Defenses and audibling plays. If I seen him hit WRs in the chest every pass caught or not I would say he got better, but didnt happen. Footwork planting feet in 3-5-7 step drops are sloppy hence inaccurate passes. Reading Defenses by him are awful seeing ghosts and running for his life with WRs being wide open and holding the ball for 5-6 seconds. So Darnold a great improving QB ruined by Jets is silly. All those things listed above HE could have worked on and fixed but like Sanchez he hasnt so far. Darnold needs to Want to be better and not expect someone else to do it for him. Only Darnold can make himself better and so far he hasnt done anything to show that but be a class act person. Thats great in life but not in being great at your job. Put the same effort in doing and learning his job.

It seems to appear you do care by participating in Jets football 12 months round.
That's great!
We Jets fans are so hungry for the sport, we talk, think, hope about it for 52 weeks for 16 games.
