Too bad we are about to cut him...

Cutting him was probably never a possibility. Is there a bet on this? I want in, easy money!

Only if we don't want another year of the worst QB in the NFL ruining a season and getting coaches and GMS shitcanned.

If that coach chooses to play him over what you think is a better option, and that GM doesn't do his best to secure a better option at QB...then wouldn't you want them fired? This GM and coach is moving ahead with geno as of today...cant imagine you're too happy with that...but this GM and coach is making that decision. With Gaily on board, they had every excuse to go to Fitz...but they prefer Geno. Again, I'd think you'd be first in line to fire Bowles and Mac...they picked Geno so far. They didnt draft him, they have no reason to back him...but they are...

No more talking about Geno. Let it play out people. Nobody will convince sg3 or Mainejet just like you can't convince me to not at least see what Geno does and support him in the process. Not even sure a 5000 yard season would convince some fans. Camp news only here please!!

It's August 2nd

Give your beloved Geno time. He's great when the defense can't sack him and pressure him into sacks and fumbles and panicked backwards running and picks and pick sixes

But you are right

If Bowles and Maccagnan are aching to lose their first top jobs ever, Geno is the man for the job

BTW, since you are the world's number one authority on EVERYTHING football, you might want to learn how to spell the Jets OC correctly

It's Gailey

With an E

And you needn't bother with another of your famously tiresome three page diatribes in response

Thanks for the ignore list, Elias

You can't replace the whole terrible team in one year. There's plenty in the organization who have said without saying, that the regime is not happy with geno, but are doing their due diligence. They got a qb who can step in if geno plays like geno, and a project pick in petty.

I am hopeful that geno pulls all he's learned together, but being great in the classroom, and performing when the lights go on, are drastically different things. And being a realist doesn't mean I want geno to fail, I just don't suddenly forget everything I've seen geno do.

I'm not worried about our future, we have enough at qb to get through this year, and if geno doesn't workout, I trust mac daddy to make strong moves next season.

I have been at training camp for three days that are open to the public. Here's a few things I noticed.

I have been impressed with Chris Owusu and Shaq Evans. Owusu has great speed, can beat defenders and has good hands. Evans has great hands and has been impressive so far. Looks like the Jets have a solid WR core. Walter Powell was impressive today, he used his speed to beat defender and caught the ball. Enunwa, beat Milliner for a touchdown.

Like Geno Smith has developed good chemistry with Brandon Marshall, it seems like Bryce Petty is starting to develop good chemistry with Amaro. Petty has a great arm, but still needs time to develop. Geno Smith had a great practice Saturday, he made smart decisions, used his legs, and threw the ball away. Fitzpatrick made some nice throws as well.

Watch out Ridley. Daryl Richardson has flashed his speed and has been doing fairly well during training camp. Zac Stacy is like a little bowling ball. Fun to watch, explosive, and is great running inside. Chris Ivory did well and Powell did well. Showed speed, caught from the backfield and showed some speed.

Cumberland's blocking has improved and Amaro showed he can block. Cumberland had most of the starting reps, but Amaro also started to get reps with the first team. Wes Saxton is a big physical target who made some nice catches and is fast.

Very interesting to see what you said about Shaq. Most people have said he's strugglef holding onto the ball. Have you noticed?

I agree with your whole post. Jets strengthened a bunch of areas this offseason and when they signed mac as a new GM I would have guessed he'd chase a franchise QB next year. Im not saying Geno and/or Petty dont have a chance to show us some things. But in a long term plan during his interviews, Im sure direction to be set on QB in 2016. Geno, Petty, or trading the farm after a top 5 QB in next year's class...there are 5 rd 1 QBs with at least 3 coming from pro style offenses that can start week 1.

I thought that was very weird he said that too. At one point they joked he had more drops than catches.

His roster spot is gone, IMO. Too many young WRs are shining, IMO. Graham has been making plays left and right and some are reporting the Jets may and try to get Owusu into some offensive packages they like him so much. Unless he's a special teams demon I find it hard to think he'll make the roster.

Marshall, Decker, Kerley, Devin Smith, Owusu to me are virtual locks. I'd keep Graham over him right now and lots of nice reports on Enunwa and Petty having very good chemistry. Plus Enunwa can play special teams. He's a physical player from nebraska. Evans is built like a tank though. Those final WR spots is going to be a tough battle and Im not sure Evans comes out of it. I even think Hakim and Powell playing with Petty could make some big plays. Tough decisions ahead.

8 observations from Day 4 at Jets training camp Sunday, as they head into an off day Monday

FLORHAM PARK — Sunday was Day 4 of Jets training camp, but really Day 2 if you ask coach Todd Bowles. That's because it was the team's second day in pads. Bowles doesn't really consider it a legitimate NFL practice unless the players have pads on.

Anyway, Sunday was another eventful day. Star defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson hurt his hamstring, but it was just a non-serious tweak, based on what Bowles said after practice. And cornerback Darrelle Revis got to engage in a fun matchup with wide receiver Brandon Marshall during practice.

PLUS: Darrelle Revis says he'll display his Super Bowl ring when he wins one with Jets

Oh, yeah, and linebacker Calvin Pace still hates training camp.

Besides those items, here are eight other things we noticed Sunday, as the Jets enjoy their first off day Monday:

1. No picks yet. Neither quarterback Geno Smith nor Ryan Fitzpatrick, Smith's likely backup, has thrown an interception in camp. Both came close once Friday. Fitzpatrick almost threw a couple picks Sunday. It's still way too soon to celebrate no camp picks for Smith and Fitzpatrick, as if it's going to mean outstanding quarterback play when games count. That's basically what Bowles said after Sunday's practice. Smith did throw a pick to Dexter McDougle in a cornerback-receiver red-zone drill Sunday (and Revis almost picked him off in this drill), but it wasn't a true game setting, because Smith was supposed to lob the ball up toward the end zone in this drill, regardless of how tight the coverage was.

2. Devin Smith showed up. The rookie wide receiver is out of the hospital after sustaining broken ribs and a slightly punctured lung during Friday's practice. He is expected to miss four to six weeks. Smith wore shorts and a T-shirt as he watched practice from the sideline. At one point, director of player personnel Brian Heimerdinger walked over to Smith and spoke with him for a bit. Bowles also got a chance to speak with Smith. "He's doing a lot better than he was, and we'll just go day by day," Bowles said.

3. So did a bunch of former Jets. A wide range of Jets alumni, including prominent players like Mark Gastineau and Laveranues Coles, were in attendance at Sunday's practice. Here is the full list of Jets alumni who showed up.

4. Sheldon Richardson made a play. He's been working with the second team, as he prepares for his suspension. But when Wilkerson exited practice, Richardson got some action with the starters. On one play, he burst into the backfield, got into Fitzpatrick's face, and deflected away his pass. Richardson's replacement, rookie Leonard Williams, also had a couple nice pressures Sunday.

5. Dee Milliner's new pals. Going back to spring practices, Milliner has basically attached himself to veteran cornerbacks Antonio Cromartie and Darrelle Revis every time they are on the sideline together. That is continuing in training camp. Milliner, who is entering his third season but has played just 16 total games because of injuries, wants to learn as much as possible from Cromartie and Revis. Remember, Milliner started opposite Cromartie as a rookie in 2013. So they already had a good relationship. Now, Milliner is a backup. But he still wants to become a great player, and he is going about it the right way.

6. Some drops. Saalim Hakim had one in a quarterback-receiver drill against no defense. So did Shaq Evans. Jeff Cumberland had a bad drop on the side of the end zone in a red zone team period, after Smith escaped pressure to keep the play alive. Kellen Davis, who is more of a blocking tight end than Cumberland, had a brutal drop in a team period, on a Smith throw. T.J. Graham, who has had a solid camp, also dropped a Fitzpatrick pass in a team period. On the positive side for the lower-profile receivers, Chris Owusu continues to look good.

7. Right guard stuff. Same as usual with this position competition. Willie Colon got some first-team reps. So did Brian Winters and Brent Qvale. As expected, Bowles said Sunday that there isn't much clarity at the position yet. It is still very early, just two full-pads practices in. Bowles said Saturday that he could possibly decide on a starter by the second or third preseason game.

8. Other injuries. A couple reserve guys, receiver DeVier Posey and offensive tackle Charles Brown, didn't practice Sunday. Bowles wasn't sure about the reason for Brown's absence. Bowles said Posey has a hamstring injury, but is "close to returning."
