We saw today Nick Mangold get banged up, in the past couple years he is been getting nicked up a lot more so then he did early in his career... Yes he still the best at the position but am not sold on the future of this position... Wesley Johnson is a good journeyman role player who can fill in for any position on the offensive line but isn't a long term solution... Kyle Friend was brought in as an rookie free agent but that didn't pan out well...
Like me there was a rumor that the team liked Michigan State's center Jake Allen who is actually on the Saints practice squad, would like to see Maccagnan to make a roster move to grab Allen off the New Orleans practice squad and sign this kid who has all the tools to develop into a exceptional impact blocker and commander of the offensive line...
Wesley Johnson would continue to be the primary backup while Allen would develop as an inactive active player...
If there was one player on the offensive line that could be removed to open up the roster spot would be Brandon Shell (team should be able to move him to practice successfully... If not then rookie tight end Bowman could be the casualty with the addition of Austin Seferian Jenkins...
