H2H is the first tiebreaker.

I know that, but the ESPN one has Bengals in the #2 if they have same record.

It changes each time I mess with it and I don't really care who we play. None are better match ups than the other. Must be a glitch.

I keep looking at the simulators and can't figure out how the Bengals are #2 seed over the Broncos if they have the same record??
Wait a minute, I just realized you said the Bengals are #2 and thats what it says at NFL.com, but thats impossible.

The following tiebreaker rules are taken from the NFL's website:

TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAMS

If necessary to break ties to determine the two WC teams from each conference, the following steps will be taken.

  • If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker.
    =
  • If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps.
Two Clubs

  1. Head-to-head, if applicable.
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
  4. Strength of victory.
  5. Strength of schedule.
  6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
  7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
  8. Best net points in conference games.
  9. Best net points in all games.
  10. Best net touchdowns in all games.
  11. Coin toss.
So I was right, it is H2H, therefore how can Cinci be 2 and Denver 3?

That has to be a mistake at NFL.com

Looks like we are going to Cincy!! We can beat that team with AJ.
The Jets can beat Cincy with AJ or Dalton, don't short change them. The Jets have become a very balanced and dangerous team over the past 5 weeks. The offense has finally caught up with the defense all around now. With the new found weapons in Powell, Thompkins, Enunwa, Ridley and Kerley they have what it takes. It's not all Marshall, Ivory and Decker anymore. Fitz has five more legitimate weapons to go now and that will be hard to beat.

Believe me I know they can beat anyone actually regardless whois playing. This team is one of the more balanced teams top to bottom in the NFL. Just get in and look out NFL. We are actually a legit SB contender when we get in.

Okay, I know why sites (NFL, ESPN etc.) are currently listing Cinci as the 2 Seed and Denver as the 3 Seed.

Cinci has clinched their division, while Denver hasn't.

I'm pretty sure thats what they are basing it on, but if both teams win this week and finish 12-4, Denver wins the West and then they will leap Cinci for the 2 Seed based on the H2H win.

However, if KC wins and Denver and Cinci lose, then KC wins the west and they are the 3 Seed, and Cinci moves up to the 2 Seed based on a H2H win over KC.

THAT SAID, I'm leaving my standings AS IS because the official standings (Cinci 2, Denver 3) are misleading based on a technicality (one team clinched their division, the other didn't).

Do the rules actually state that the list of tiebreakers does not apply if one team has won its division and the other hasn't?

Yes, the top 4 seeds are always your 4 division winners.

Thats why Houston is the 4 seed at 8-7, and not the Jets or Chiefs at 10-5

So right now they are going by the fact that Cinci is "officially" a division winner, while Denver is not.
