It is. There is big upside, but he hasn't shown much in a few years now. His numbers have been awful. How much has to do with the coaching change?

When he had Robinson and an OL and O’Brien he was great. Jets have great WR’s and decent OL.

Cook is overrated. Mediocre arm. And from what I've read a major primadona and a big douche. Granted I get my info from the biased lense of a Michigan message board but read some unflattering stuff on him. Teammates hated him

Yeah, I certainly don't have any insight on him. Good to have some insider feedback.
Bottom line, I strongly believe we need to keep drafting QBs until we find The One. It will cure everything else.

Clearly, Idzik and Rex are still making our picks for us. This is pathetic. Yes, I feel that strong about it. So telling that his beloved coach, Tom O'Brien, traded in front of us, not for his franchise QB, but a freaking center. O'Brien was supposed to be Hack's biggest supporter, and despite having a suspect QB situation, opted for a second round center instead. Hack is not accurate and that will not change.

Terrible draft. So far worse than Idzik's last effort. Yup I said it.

I saw all I needed to in Cook when he played Bama.

I don't love the Hackenburg pick but I am thrilled that it was him and not Cook

This kid can do it, I think he can be coached up. I am not so sure about Cook. Regardless, Our GM doesn't seem prone to vanity picks. They must see something.

I'm not a massive fan of this draft, either, but I'm deferring to them over my assessments. If it all blows up, though, they don't get the benefit of the doubt.

houston just paid a ton of money for osweiler. would make no sense to use a 2nd rounder on a QB after guaranteeing him almost $40 million.

the jets, on the other hand, have petty (who i like but is unproven) and geno smith. so yeah, we need a QB more than bill o'brien does

Doesn't seem like Hackenburg is a day one starter. Petty I'm guessing they have no faith in to draft a QB this high? So it's either Geno to start or they do find away to resign Fitz and cut Geno.

Nope they like Petty... I think Mac wants competition... this is NY... he is gonna test the metal of these guys and see who can stand the heat.... Remember the Cowboys drafted Aikman in the first rd and then turned around and took Steve Walsh in the supplemental draft( and gave up a #1 the next year to pick him).... Everyone went nuts saying the Cowboys wasted there next years #1 why draft aikman if you are gonan grab Walsh blah blah blah.... They said then hey we like them both and the best one will start and they are both great prospects so if we find our QB we're set....

Not quite 2 high picks fighting it out like Walsh and Aikman but same theory...

You actually believe that oBrien would take a QB in the 2nd after they just signed Osweiler for what they did? The fact he didn't choose Hackenburg means less than nothing.

really talk about over reacting... Jet82, I disagree with you, they have supported him since they drafted him and the only negative comment coach said was he had to learn to control his happy feet... which is coaching and reps.

Point, you're a good poster.

But I've never disagreed with you more. Lee and Hackenberg are great picks.

This reminds me so much of the 2014 draft when we passed on Cooks, Benjamin, Matthews, etc. Instead we took Saunders and Shaq Evans and everyone on the message boards managed to talk themselves into thinking it was a stroke of genius.

Hack was a disaster at PSU, with better talent around him than people let on, certainly better than what Paxton Lynch was dealing with. Hack's ex-coach wanted nothing to do with him. Paying Osweiler means nothing in regards to drafting "your guy".

Y'all remember the lengths Chip Kelly went to last year to get Marcus Marriota??? That's what you do for a franchise guy. O'Brien could have drafted Hack in the 2nd and given nothing to a team for compensation, and he passed on him for an overachieving center.

Tells me a lot, and should to you guys as well.

Bill.

Tom O'Brien was the former BC and NC State coach.
