Two trade downs. Quantity when it comes to late picks.
Fans think need is far more valuable in the draft, especially in later round picks, than teams ever do.
He's not a value pick. He's barely a blocking TE and we already have one of those. Mac has absolutely lost his F'n mind. We traded down to get a round 5 pick and then traded back up to get a project guy that we didn't even need while passing on Butler and Jordan both of whom could have filled needs without a lot of coaching.
I'm an avid college football fan and I spent all off-season studying this draft religiously, but until today I didn't know Trevon Wesco existed.
That doesn't mean he sucks, I'm not the burning bush, but I studied this draft relentlessly and could not have told you Wesco existed until today.
And to make matters worse, we traded down twice in RD 4 for this pick, the second time missing on ER Austin Bryant and C/G Michael Jordan.
Austin Bryant went to the Lions almost immediately after that second time we traded down.
... and there goes Michael Jordan to the Bengals.

Wesco was 4th on his squad in receiving last year with a little 300-350 yards, can't remember exactly, and one TD. He is primarily a blocker and only average at doing that. We already have a blocking TE and don't need another. In my opinion he would be lucky to make the practice team. It's a wasted pick, in my opinion of course. Fire Mac. He has failed in this draft already. I have great grandchildren that could have made that first pick so he gets no credit for that. Either one of those 2 available would have been a good pick. Poilte is a good pick, IF, they can deal with his character and conditioning. Edoga fills a position that's already adequately filled, RT, but he played with Sam so maybe they brought him here to make Sam happy. At any rate he's no upgrade and it will take a lot to make him one. I'm almost afraid to see what he does with that 5th round pick he traded down to get. Fire Mac.

The countdown is over. I knew at some point somebody was going to call for the firing of Macc over a middle round pick because of a draft guide prognostication.

That was me Brick and his actions in this draft have been horrible and you know I usually side with you on this subject but he has failed. There is no getting around it. And it has nothing at all to do with any draft guides just plain common sense.
Welcome aboard. I've not said he has failed at this draft. Q and Polite are nice pieces to this defense. I don't know about Darnold's buddy. Wesco is probably a complete waste of a pick like most of Mac's late round picks. Ridley was still available.
