Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season features one of the most anticipated revenge games of all time. Joe Flacco will get the start for the New York Jets as the team takes on his former club, the Baltimore Ravens.

OK, so that's hyperbole. Yes, it's technically a "revenge" game, but it's not like Flacco left the Ravens on bad terms. It's also not a situation where Flacco made the Ravens pay for moving on. Since leaving the team, Flacco has mostly been a backup.

Flacco, 37, was expected to get the call after second-year quarterback Zach Wilson injured his knee in the preseason. There were reports Wilson was getting close to a return, but it appears he will need a few more weeks.

Flacco will start in Week 1, coach Robert Saleh announced Wednesday. Wilson isn't expected to return until Week 4.

The Flacco "revenge" game isn't the most enticing one on the schedule in Week 1, but it is notable. Flacco has not played against the Ravens since leaving the team following the 2018 NFL season. Flacco led Baltimore to a Super Bowl win in 2012. Sunday's game isn't in Baltimore, but Flacco likely would have received a cheer from fans for his contributions to the franchise.

The spirit may be wiling but the flesh is weak.
I don't think he is capable of carrying the team on his back to victory.
It will have to be a team effort.

Ill be concentrating on the defensive performance Sunday. If we can hold them to 21 pts or under, I’ll consider that a win, despite the offense only scoring 10. Just show me some promise on either side of the ball and I’ll be happy …….

Ravens passing sucks, so keep QB in pocket or sack. Jets got an old statue at QB facing aggressive Ravens Defense so passing off his back wont work. Im not sure Jets can win, but will watch in hope.

Unless L. Jackson doesn’t play this game or their defense is horrible, the Jets lose this one by 10-17 points. Turnovers will kill us and the the fact that Flacco isn’t mobile at all will hurt us bad. I just don’t see it in Joe Flacco at all. If I’m wrong then so be it but I don’t.

I don’t know how much better our chances would have been with Zach. I would like to think they would have moderately better, if not significantly better but maybe I’m wrong in that. With Zach the Jets may have still lost but our chances (in my opinion) would be been much. Plus a more exciting game to watch!

Who is on the Jets medical staff - Dr. Pepper?
Offensive tackles play for other teams for 15 years.
Offensive tackles on the Jets have a life expectancy shorter than a new Second Lieutenant in Viet Nam.

I know. This is absolutely nuts.

I’m thinking the curse is nothing to be joked about anymore

Bring up Streveler to start. According to some here he is only good when playing behind third and fourth string players.
That’s a really good point and might work

we might be down to Streveler by the 2nd half of this game anyway
