hey I remember him, he was a coach on the 1962 Mets. Must have been too much to take because he passed after that season
He might have played a little in the majors before that, I think we have people here who saw him play

Like Jetgreen said, if we lose Thursday Zach will finish the year. If we win, do they sit Zach after a win? It would be kinda shocking to me.

Just loving all this getting along with one another that keeps happening on our forum. It's nice to be able to disagree without being snide and offensive like Butterscotch pointed out in another thread. Oh wait, must be my advanced age is making me senile, it appears I'm mistaken. Anyway................I find fault with both QB options, but considering the team is still young and trying to develop and gel, is much improved over the past, I'm willing to try to be patient, even though it's difficult, and let it all play out. I'd love for the team to make the play-offs but if they don't it isn't the end of the world, and they are still the team I will criticize when they screw up and keep supporting in spite of those mistakes. Color me old and worn out.

I am old, admittedly, but not old enough to have seen him play. The last I heard of him was when I was serving in the US Navy, and not on Noah's Ark as Butter would have you believe. At that time he was coaching the Cubs and he left there to become a base coach for the Mets. He died of a stroke or heart attack, can't remember which in 1962. I do remember there was a lot of controversy surrounding him around 1952 or 3 when his 3rd wife or secretary went out a 3rd story window and died. He was considered a great hitter who wasn't liked much by his team mates. I do believe he made it into the hall of fame. I wasn't into baseball as much as I am football but my shipmates were mostly baseball fans. That's about all I can recall about him. I liked the Dodgers up until they moved west and then I put baseball behind me.
He was not liked by many yes he is in the hall of fame. He was amazing for his time....My dad saw him play....I wish I did........you on the Ark...did not come from me. I know God wanted two of everything & there could never be two of you
