Yea , used Hunts and tuttorosso
Our family all makes our own “ gravy”
Usually from the non BPA cans of whole tomatoes now

just wanted to show the the term Sicilian “gravy “ is not just out there and has been used by generations of Italian Americans .

And we all know when the term for brown gravy is used . No confusion here . But I’ve had this debate before.

Even goodfellas used the term “ stir the gravy”
But it’s a fun debate either way
So thanks giving when you ask for the Gravy is that turkey gravy or cranberry sauce gravy ...boy I am confused:worried:

Well Jets made it a nail biter. Darnold staring at WRs for another INT and 2 fumbles was the main cause in this game. Maye yelling about aggressive play call is bs. Thats the only reason Jets are even close. Defense lacks very little talent so aggressive is it. Im looking at next year new QB,HC and winning. New Jets needs a new uniform getting rid of arena league outfits to shake off the bad luck and stench with new uniforms and QB ,HC. I only like the black uniforms of new uniforms at best make them our uniforms next year. Trevor L. And new start, uniforms,HC is it.

New Unis won't help and actually I wouldn't care if they wore pink jeans and tee shirts as long as they win. I am onboard with hireing a new head coach to go with our new defensive coordinator though.

Go to the supermarket and look at all the cans of 'tomato sauce' on the shelves, in a variety of brands. They all call it that for a reason: that's the accepted way of referring to a sauce made of tomatoes. There are no cans of tomato 'gravy', whether from Italian companies or American companies.

'Gravy' typically refers to a substance with a meat stock as it's base ingredient such as the brown gravy used on roast beef or mashed potatoes.

By the way, the Jets suck...
Blah, blah, blah. For what its' worth, my off the boat grandparents (Lombardi and Amabile) only referred to it as gravy.

we're top 5 against the rush.
honestly, I don't think these guys have quit. hate to say it but dont think the offense has quit either
we may have stupid penalties but thats just guys trying to make a play
we generally have no offensive help
no beer
I dont like his haircut though
Williams had done a good job as DC with few star players to work with and a lot of guys off the street. But there was friction with Gase and that dumb call looked awfully like putting ego before the team. 'Dumbest call I've ever seen' -Rex Ryan.

Most of my family referred to it as sauce, but some referred to it as gravy. And everyone knew what they were talking about.

My bad on that 'Sicilian Gravy' product. Never saw that one before.

Are there any products that have 'tomato gravy' on the label?

Regarding gravy vs sauce, you have to remember that Italy is not one country, but many. Specifically, three major regions, Alt Italia (northern half of the mainland), Bas Italia (southern half) and Sicilia. People from those parts of the country rarely consider the other regions countrymen and the language, food and culture, at least in Sicily are markedly different, The Italian born Mrs. Fudbutter who grew up in a family that predominately spoke Italian had a great deal of trouble talking to people in Sicily. She says that the term gravy used instead of saying sauce is predominately Sicilian but also occasionally used in parts of Bas Italia, mostly from those who originated in Napoli.

Just taking an opportunity to be pedantic :)

I don't think this team has quit. They are willing but the talent is weak. We all know this. The first mistake was hiring a failed HC who couldn't make it with a division rival. After that it was only a matter of time.

Let us settle this Gravy/Sauce thing now. Being part German we put Gravy on our meat. Being part swiss we put brown gravy on our noodles & beef. Being part Irish we get sauced at night. But as an American we put tomato sauce on our pasta. Ok I hope that explains it.

That can be a misleading statistic. It could be because the Jets are so easy to pass on, so why bother to run?
How do they stack up in terms of yards per rush instead of yards/ game?
Later
yes it is a misleading stat you are right but it worked for my arguement which you just messed up for me:rofl2: I said the same about Revis. if no one ever throws at the guy he's covering and they just light up the other side of the field, what has Revis really done? and how do we know how good he is if the ball never goes his way?

Makes sense for my people's use of 'gravy'; grandfather Lombardi was was from near Bari and grandmother Amabile/Lombardi was from near Naples. Thanks Fud!

Ok Fudbutter I am dazed & confused.......got this off the net
"
Where the term came about
Although the term “Gravy” doesn’t exist in Italy, it WAS in fact invented by Italians from Italy. When Italians immigrated to the United States, they tried to assimilate to American culture. Although they wanted to keep their traditions and heritage, they desired to become accepted in the new country. For most Italians, this meant learning English!

When you wave your arms (Italian sign language) Do you wave for gravy or do you wave for Sauce or is there a wave for each. I just wave for more.(yes I am a pig) Now with pizza everyone I ask says how much sauce do you want on your pizza not gravy ...right??

So if i invite any many of you over for Thanksgiving I need two kinds of gravy???? Tomatoes & gravy don't mix & when i ask who wants more gravy.......I need to pass both dishes.........

Who want a Chocolate Sundae with chocolate Gravy????? Just does not fit unless you put on tomato gravy....

In his prime, Revis took out the star receiver of the other side without us having to double cover him. We could then use the 'extra' defender elsewhere. Of course this only works where the opposition has one stand-out receiver, if they have a lot of equivalent guys then you could argue that one man was taking out Revis.
