After winning back-to-back games against potential playoff teams, the Jets head to New England to finish up a disappointing 2020 season against the Patriots.
New York is coming off a 23-16 takedown of the Browns, while the Patriots were dismantled by the Bills, 38-9, on Monday Night Football. Even with that, New England is favored going into Week 17’s matchup.
The Patriots are favored by 4.5 points in Week 17, according to BetMGM.
The total over/under for Sunday’s game is set at 42.5 points with the Jets holding at -115 and the Patriots holding at -105. New York possesses a money line of +170 at a 4.5-point disadvantage. Against the spread, both teams hold the same line at -110.
When the two teams met in Week 9, the Patriots erased a 10-point deficit late in the fourth quarter to pull off a walk-off 30-27 victory. The Jets will look to secure their first divisional win of the season come Sunday.
The Jets may finally have their starting offensive line together in Sunday’s season finale against the Patriots.
New York designated guards Alex Lewis and Greg Van Roten to return to practice this week in preparation for Week 17. Josh Andrews and Pat Elflein have taken the place of Lewis and Van Roten while they’ve been out.
Lewis has been on the NFI list since Dec. 4, when he had to take care of some personal issues. Prior to that, Lewis started in nine games for the Jets this season at left guard.
As for Van Roten, he’s been out since Dec. 12 with a foot injury. He was the Jets’ starting right guard for 12 games before going down with the injury. Van Roten had not missed a single snap until he got injured.
