The team was built by Maccagnan. At least give Douglas one draft before complaining.
Besides, there are some good young players in key positions. S, QB, WR, DL.
One thing nobody has brought up is the O line play has been much improved over the past 3-4 weeks.
The backups have outperformed the big off-season FAs. Osemele was forced to play injured, Clady was a bad signing , never learned the offense or protections, but Douglas and Gase refused to admit it and continued to try and force a bad fit, Winters like Osemele playing with a fully torn labrum.....
The talent was never going to be top 5 but not forcing bad fits and allowing the right line to play together would have led to an average O line. 15-17 range. That could be the difference between W-L against teams like the Dolphins and Bengals.
This is something that falls on Gase and was an issue in Miami. He sticks with "his guys" and his system , irregardless of fit or success.
