I don't understand what you guys are looking for ... perfection?

You're not gonna get that from 99% of college QB prospects. There are very few CAN'T MISS, no brainers like Elway.

Most young guys have some flaws you need to work out, you gotta take a risk, you can't just wait for the perfect QB prospect to fall into your lap.

Or else how many years will you be going between QB's?

Selfishly as a Jets fans I'm glad Oklahoma lost and Mayfield didn't have another chance to drop 50 on Bama or Clemson in the national title game too.

If you want the Jets to at least have the option of drafting Mayfield at #6, its a good thing that his season ended tonight, albeit in a valiant effort.

Well I don't want him so I'm glad he lost!!

And did you notice no big plays ruined by the Refs

Hey guys I just to say none of my opinions of Baker Manziel mean any disrespect for your opinions on him. No matter how heated I may get over the next coming months, I will never think less of you or your "stupid" opinions. HA!! We all want the same thing for the Jets.

I would still be very happy if Mac chose to draft Mayfield. In fact, ecstatic. If the Jets don't take any chances on a 1st day QB, they may never find one.

Certainly reasonable. He has swagger, too, though that comes with questions about maturity. He's not a prototype, but some of the more successful young QBs to enter the league recently also haven't been prototypes.

You'd ideally put accuracy above all else, but it doesn't really hurt him much with that completion percentage.

No it doesn't. It's just going to be an area that he could be coached up by the QB coach/OC.

Great, great game. Couple of guys that really stood out - Smith at LB is a football player. That tackle he made on the WR in OT was an outstanding play. He was all over the field and football smart. Chubb and Michel are really talented backs. Mayfield played well. As I said, I'm not sold on him at all for a host of reasons. But I'm willng to keep an open mind throughout the draft process.

Tebow - to your point, I would take the best player available in that slot if they stay there. We need help a lot of places, and this is a deep QB class. The Jets can draft a QB in round 2 or 3 and still get a franchise player. That's probably more true than ever because so few college teams play a pro offense. Most of the QBs coming out are not prepared for the NFL game, so they are projections.

Great point Bigmoe - the refs didn't ruin the game. And it was fun to watch. The refs in the pros and the NFL should take a lesson from that game. Keep the officiating to a minimum and let them play.

What did you guys think of Mark Andrews?
I think he's locked in as a 2nd RD Pick, someone I'd be looking at for the Jets with our early 2, but he had a chance to elevate into RD 1 tonight and fell short, didn't make enough plays. Again, as a Jets fan I'm glad because I think he would be a steal in RD 2.

I don't know who it was that convinced us all that this years QB class was going to be so good but in my opinion they pulled the wool over our eyes. I've been watching college football so much this season that my wife thinks that the TV has become joined to my body. I have a notebook full of actual notes. I think most of you have read my opinions of most of these top QBs and so you know the ones that I do NOT want. But,in my opinion Jackson's passing game is not acceptable. Mayfield, and I've said it before I have no problem with his height. My concerns with him are his personality, his performance under pressure from the defense is not as good as I had previously thought and I agree with Tebow Can't Throw that he has no experience actually working under center. He is skilled but will it translate to our offense without drastically changing it again. If I was to pick the QB this time I would probably, at this time anyway, pickJarrett Stidham from Auburn. He completes close to 70% of his passes, has great arm strength, is very accurate with good pocket presence. He is good under center, dropping back in the shotgun, and on the run. He is also very athletic. He also comes with no personality or off field problems that I know of. We could probably wait and take him in the second round if he doesn't move up. So we could trade up and get Barkley with our first pick. I can't believe that I just said this, oh well. I'm just not impressed with the QBs at the top of the draft. Please don't pass out or have a heart attack Tebow because I agreed with you this time.

Well I see you have come to the dark side. This team needs a QB in the worst way, but I don't want to reach for one with flaws. We have been doing that for 50 years. Give me a top OL with first 3 picks and then take a QB in the 3rd. Or two OL and get Sony Michel. he just jumped up the board tonight wit 150 yards and 4 TD's. We need a QB, but we need a great OL just as much if not more. I'm convinced that Baker is not the one for the Jets.

I guess everyone has a dark side. I really wanted a QB with that first pick but I'm just not sold that the cream of this QB crop is what it's hyped up to be. We need to improve the offense either way and there are some good RBs and Tackles in round one. Stidham would likely be available in round two and I think he might prove to be better then any QB currently in our stable.

Good post. I agree that this class of QBs has been overhyped. It is a deep class, meaning there are a lot of draftable QBs. I would not say the top of this class is all that they are hyped up to be. Time will tell, but none of them are sure things. I also like Stidham a lot. He's flying under the radar. He may not come out this year. If he does, I think he could be a great pick in round 2 or 3.
