this seems to me like the best bet - risk for one week in order to keep another player and avoid a guarantee

Doubtful. If they were going to do that they wouldn't cut him till next week so he can get some practice.

Don't waste a roster on a QB. Use the spot on someone who can contribute , not on someone to watch games. If these guys play, they aren't winning us anything, anyway

Again, Tim Tebow's final preseason numbers for #Eagles : 21 of 36 for 286 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT. 14 rushes for 82 yards, 1 TD. Not too shabby.

I don't think he's PS eligible, too much vested time in the NFL, so we either kept him on the 53 or lost him.

If they were going to bring Johnson back, he wouldn't get cut until next weekend. You don't cut a QB 8 days prior to game 1 with the thinking of bring him back.

#Jets will be going into the season with Ryan Fitzpatrick, Bryce Petty and the injured Geno Smith.


The good news on this is tht the Jets must have a good bit of confidence in Petty.

This is a calculated risk to save money and they will sign someone after game one. They don't want to have to pay a backup QB's guaranteed salary.
