That part scares me when it comes to re-signing the Doc . He didn’t want to be a backup in Kansas City and requested a trade . Why would he want to be a backup with the Jets?

he never requested a trade he wanted a chance to start and the only way he would get that chance is if the Chiefs traded him but that was on the team's decision because of the depth they had and potential with Smith as the new starter... they also needed a tight end at the time because of all the injuries they had reason why it was a player for player deal...

as for him coming back he would be penciled in as the starter until the rookie is ready... we will see when is offered a new contract, if he balks at the contract amount because it is vet. minimum then adios... but he wants to come back and compete, with nowadays to have a vet. role guy with starting potential to spot start should be our focus with covid and injuries, can not go with backups that have NO experience unless you enjoy seeing Zach Wilson on IR every season, because that is what will happen...

Well then we'll probably never get any X-Factor FAs because all of the good to great players want to get paid accordingly (once hitting Free Agency).

I don’t have an issue with paying top dollar for a top prospect. Trouble is I want him to want to come here, and that means not getting into a bidding war for his services.

the cowboys can likely restructure contracts and free up cap dollars to re-sign some of their free agents and delve into the free agent market. from what I read they can free up anywhere between $18 to $32 M and one name that came up is Amari Cooper.

read that LDT wanted to start but the Chiefs went with the rookie Smith as the new starter, but when the door opened and a team came a calling about the availability of the guard, the Chiefs organization did right by him in giving him that opportunity to become a starter again.

If we draft Ikwonu, Neal or Cross at #4 and Fant beats out Becton at LT, I doubt LDT will be starting at RG.

yes I was talking about last year but he could compete this year to start as the starter if they re-sign him. he could also be that emergency spot starter if someone gets hurt and he fits the system, so it would be in the best interest of the team to consider bringing him back.

I noticed that he had a severe case of the dropsies last season. In all fairness that might be partly the fault of his QBs. Bringing him back would be an iffy situation for me. He ought to be cheap though.

Absolutely, and if he did request a trade it might just be a move to get more money which is why he left in the first place.
