Why isn't Bowles pissed off? Why isn't he tearing people a new ass? Its a penalties and special teams shit-show.

Nothing gets this guy angry, he just stand that with that dopey look on his face.

I am pretty sure he is. Just because he doesn't get in guys' faces on camera doesn't mean he isn't mad.

Why is it fans always want coaches who do nothing but scream and yell?

The guy has flaws, but this fan base goes after anything and everything to rip on him. It's ridiculous.

Players dont respect Bowles! Thats why they quit in games like Revis and Wilk. His cruddy Defensive plays stink. Jets got 4 good players on D.

My point exactly. The whole notion that the players don't respect him is ridiculous.

The defensive line today was solid, especially against the run. The secondary not as good. The offense through the entire game showed good potential and effort. The penalties were horrendous and some of them were committed by vets which is twice as bad. I certainly hope we see improvement next week.

Claiborne shocked me with how off he was tonight. He just was not good. Adams and Maye were OK. Skrine looked pretty off.

Even the best DB's in the league will look bad if you can't rush the QB in this league. I don't think Eli got touched all nite. I don't think anyone even got close enough to breathe on him. If thats the best our starting OLB's can do, we need to seriously consider starting a first year UDFA, Frankie Luvu, or at least using him as a situational pass rusher on third downs. We can't live with what we received from our current starting OLB's verses the Giants. You just can't live with that in the NFL circa 2018. Starting a UDFA is hardly ideal, but right now he looks like the best edge rusher on the team.

The o line showed improvement in pass protection, the run blocking was non-existent. Long handled snacks pretty well. Pressure especially early came from the outside, that's on the TEs and RBs not the O Line. Hopefully once all 5 starters are on the field and have time to gel, the run blocking improves. Still a glaring hole though.
Darnold showed some improvement, and IMO, that's all you can ask for at this point. He still as ball placement issues and under threw Anderson twice, staring him down the whole play on the first attempt, with a very slow delivery. Kind of play they gets your receivers injured, sames as the high pass far out side the TE that was nearly picked. Had 2 passes batted down at the line and at least one other tipped.
The WRs struggling all night to get separation.
perfect example , it the pass Darnold got the intentional grounding penalty. Threw it away after 5 seconds. The TEs were terrible, pretty sure Tomlinson played his way off the roster. Got run over in pass protection and had 2 penalties. Legette was invisible as well.
D line looking good, Williams getting more penetration, especially with Shepard drawing some double teams.
DBs were up and down, the big play Skrine gave up to Shepard hurt but Skrine played it as well as you can.
Nothing special about our special teams!
Penalties as usual. Worse many came from veterans and projected starters.

Can't help but think if Odell and Barkley play and Engram doesn't get injured, the game would have been much uglier.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't our secondary supposed to be our strength this year? I don't usually go into detail in my descriptions of what I think like some guys who have played football and understand the game better then me. I like to just get down and dirty and straight to the point.

That said, the offensive seems better than usual and the defense and special teams are much worse then usual. when brady gets to stand around like Eli, he's gonna put 50 points on this defense

So maybe and that is still maybe, we have a franchise QB. now we just need about 50 more players on the team who can play and we might be able to compete for a wild card

Still excited about the QB though. As long as he's on the field

So if I'm reading into what you're saying here, some things are a little better but we still stink?:)

I wouldn't say stink, I'd say suck... LOL
Seriously I would say, we're not quite as far along as many would like to believe. O line is still a big issue, once Beachum returns, if they can Gel and get the new blocking scheme down, they can be middle of the league which is a big improvement. Pass protection was solid .
The DBs are fine, still have not allowed a TD in 3 games and last night they didn't get much time to breath between turnovers and special teams but they held up.
RBs are tough to grade as there was no where to run, Qvale did have a great blocker to spring Powell on his TD though and Crowell showed he can be a threat in the passing game.Powell is a FA after this season so don't know that he will be back.
Darnold made some Improvement. But needs at least a season , possibly two before he can lead this team on a deep run.
None of the WRs jumped out at me last night. Ball placement was an issue though, so that may have been a factor. Another position that will likely look much different next year. Of the big 4, Anderson ,Q,Pryor and Kearse, only Anderson is under contract next year and Stewart and Hansen are not replacing them. We're not a playoff team , not 1 player away. But at least 1 player closer.

50 more players? Slight exaggeration?

Maccagnan tore this thing down two years ago. He’s not putting a playoff team out there this soon. Some people act as though getting elite pass rushers, rebuilding entire o-lines, and finding a franchise QB is easy work. It takes time, and a little luck with draft picks, to put a top 5 NFL team together.

I see the big jump next year, with a lot of money to hopefully address a few key positions like OLB and OT.

50 more players IS an exaggeration. we probably need 49. I always post in a way that is meant to be a little sarcastic , a little humorous, and usually is an exaggeration of what is actually true. I like to make people laugh. Some get it, some dont. Hopefully a number of my posts bring an uncontrolled chuckle to those who do get my humor.

That said, I'm not one who expects this to happen over night. I have never said here that I have a problem with what Maccagnan has done. In fact I have stated that I do not have a problem with him.

Truth is, there are very few great pass rushers out there and the same goes for great left tackles and offensive linemen in general. When a team has one of these, they tend to hang on to them until they cost too much. So our best bet is to draft them ourselves so we have them for their cheap years. This process takes a while, especially when you need a lot of players. If you are a player or two from a championship, then you spend the big bucks to get the player you need.

All that said though, there have been a number of teams that have gone from last to first in One year. In our division, unfortunately, the best a team can do is go from last to second in a year, but wouldn't that be nice too. If another team can do it, why not us. isn't it about time?

Belichick won 5 games, his first year cheating, the next year he won the superbowl and it seems like he has won every one since. He has certainly been in the running every year since.

If someone else can do it , why can't we. I think most people are just tired of waiting so we come here to complain together and share the pain. Misery enjoys company right?

So hopefully we are on the right track. It can't happen fast enough for me

I have a very "big"concern about the penalties and ST play. I am please that Sam is learning and seems to get better... the Ol was well...I guess better but... the season starts in two weeks and frankly I do not see a crisp team. W/O a consistent PR our secondary will look like crap... I am hoping Mac is trying to make a play for Mack because lord knows we need someone to get to the QB.

TB has this year to prove he is the right coach for this team... frankly I am not sure but we'll see.

Just watched the first drive for the Jets vs Giants. Darnold looked great. When was the last time we had a QB that we could believe would get us points on the first drive. Couple bad penalties, but Darnold doesn't panic. I truly believe Darnold will be great one day and maybe even a HOF'er.

Claiborne sucks. Our ST sucks. Cannon is nothing more than a fast guy.

You're right. The secondary was supposed to be the strength of the defense this season and that is the reason I sound disappointed in them, especially with the addition of Johnson.

The penalties and ST play was ludicrous in the Giants game. Cannon probably just fumbled his way off this team. And Tomlinson is battling four other TE’s for a couple of spots, and he has two motion penalties in the first half. Ugly.

I’m going to attribute some of this to shaking off the rust in preseason. But it has to get tightened up quickly.

I’m not worried about the secondary. We’re going to be better than what we showed against the Giants. I’m 100% sure of it.

frankly i've aready seen enough from bowles.. sloppy play, has always been a bowles go to move.. apparently it worked.. he got an extension..

the good news is i don't see anyway chris johnson sits on his hands & watches a defensive HC hinder the development of the most important jet since namath..

That's pretty daring of you Blindside to be 100% sure of anything about this team at this time. I admire your guts and confidence. I do agree though that the secondary will probably get better. I am far more concerned with special teams play and the penalties and ludicrous was being nice.
