I know the Jags put up 45 points, but Bortles is god-awful. About as inaccurate a QB at this level I have ever seen. BenR on the other hand, throws the most accurate and catchable deep ball as you will see.

yeah, but we knew that before the season started. defense still does win championships though. Giants proved that twice.

I'll add to your description, a direct line to the officials booth, open checkbook and videos of all teams practices. When belichick coaches the Giants next season it will all be over. Note also the premium that the Patriots place on big pass-catching tight ends, as opposed to the Jets who until recently tried to play without them. Another interesting point is that the Patriots rarely go in for the 'burner' receiver who catches long bombs, it is far more effective to have a ball control offense that wears out the other team's 'D'. Like the Jets had the last time we were good, under Pennington and early Sanchez. Everybody goes 'Wow' when the one-play TD occurs, but they forget that your defense is back on the field with little rest.

I disagree. ESPN caused that TD. Shows like SportsCenter don't show great form tackles. They show big hits, where guys lead with the head, arms down at the side, like a torpedo. So a whole bunch of players, especially DBs, tackle without wrapping or looking at their target. Those are the highlight film hits. Go in with your head down, and you might get a big hit, but you might also whiff.

This is one reason I am a big supporter of Pete Carroll and his commitment to form tackling. Think of it this way - rugby players, without helmets or shoulder pads, are much better form tacklers than a lot of football players. And they're a lot safer, both to themselves and to the guys they're tackling. This renewed commitment to form tackling has made its way back down to high school and youth programs.

He keeps his head up and tries to wrap, there's no way that's a TD.

The stuff about 'defenseless receivers' is the wrong emphasis. They should be ejecting players for hitting with the crown of the helmet, particularly the 'kill' shot to the side of the head that took out Kelce in the Wild Card game. Glancing contact to the 'head and neck' area should be allowed, the head is on the front of the body with a large helmet and cage on it and it is difficult to tackle someone ducking into you without some such contact.
