Officially on Deshaun Watson watch

It's that time in the season when the best way to salvage the season is to suck bad enough to finally draft our franchise QB.

I am so sick of this franchise pissing around and trying to be cute in the draft. I was sick to my stomach when we passed on Lynch in April. I actually threw up in my mouth when we drafted Hackenberg. What a waste.

Watson is the best prospect since at least Jameis.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for seeing what Petty has, but as of right now I don't think we have a true franchise guy among the (ridiculous) 4 on our current roster.

We need to accomplish 3 things in the offseason:

1) Get a damn franchise QB. Make it happen in April.
2) Bolster the OL. (I would accomplish this in FA by dumping fitz, Breno and Revis and using that money)
3) Take advantage of the epic rb class and draft one of those guys.

Makes me even more sick to watch Dak Prescott light up the league and the Cowboys didn't even want him. I really hate this organization. There really is no hope as a Jets fan.

In the last 2 drafts we have watched the Bucs, Titans, Cowboys, Broncos, and Eagles all get their future QB. All 5 of these guys are starting and having some level of success. Meanwhile, somehow, our scouting dept had Hack ranked ahead of Lynch. I swear we could hear the audible, collective snicker of nfl gm's and fans from around the league when we bungled that one.

Petty has shown glimpses, enough to give him a lonh look this yr. With that said, if we're in position to get Watson, who has intangibles of leadership that match his athletic gifts and production, let's stop trying to outsmart the room and make him a Jet for the next 15 years.

Jet fans make jokes that we'll fittingly pass on a guy like Watson for the "late riser" safety, just coming off a spectacular pro day, and sadly we're only half kidding.

If my point gets lost in my ranting above, it's that we were in a position the last two drafts to go get a big time guy. Both times we passed and instead drafted projects. That's the "pissing around" that I'm over it with this franchise.

Here's the thing with that and if you've been a Jets fan (and I'm sure you have) long enough you will know, it just NEVER seems to go that way for us. Look at last year and NO I WILL NOT LET IT GO, The Jets should have drafted Dak Prescott in the 2nd through 4th round but they didn't and look at what he's doing for the Cowboys right now. Even the fact of them trying to sell the farm to move up and get Wentz didn't work. It just seems to be our fate. Now look at the situations like Rex last year when they should have lost 13-14 games to set us up for a high draft pick for Winston or Mariotta. What do these idiots do, win 6 games and for what? To help Rex give us his final FUCK YOU's as he walks out the door and onto the Bills. Leaving us no chance of drafting Winston or Mariotta.

Now your saying it's time to start the Watson watch and I'm with you but the team will find away to screw that up. I PROMISE YOU ON THIS ONE!!! Whether they win one more game then needed to get the #1 overall pick. Or they find away to turn the season around period and finish strong with that 8-8 record. Or even better, the 10-6 record and lose in the wild-card. Then they might even pull the true fan FUCK YOU card and get that #1 or #2 pick and be able to draft Watson but draft a FUCKING punter or another D-end. Like they usually do! Then there's the infamous overlooks they always do (like last year) and there is a diamond in the ruff in the 3rd or 4th round but they don't draft him (Dak Prescott) and we watch him blow up for another team. From game one his rookie damn year.

So yes I'm with you, it is time for the Watson watch but don't bank on it because in the end the Jets will always find away to fuck it up. I may be to young to remember or truly know but since the Namath days, there hasn't been any true luck coming the Jets way. I didn't consider Todd or Obrien franchise QBs but then again, I may have been to young to remember. Pennington could have been our guy but the injury bug hit him. Hence the Jets curse or so it seems. Then we have Sanchez which in his first two years, I thought we may have been on to something. However; from year three on we see where that went. Geno, why even bother mentioning him and now we onto Petty and Hack. If either were good enough, I have to think either would be on the field but their not.

Sometimes fans act like getting a franchise QB is as simple as driving down to the car dealership, and simply buying one.

It's not that simple. Hindsight is always 20/20 regarding draft picks. Everyone knew that so and so was the real deal. Of course!!

With that said, I'm exhausted as a Jets fan of over 30 years, and still waiting for a franchise QB. A certain amount of luck is also involved, and this organization has none. Zero luck. It's ultimately what's holding this team back.

1 : The Jets are one of many scouting departments that had Hackenburg ahead of Lynch...
2 : We took him where we did cause the Cowboys were taking him before he would comeback to us in the 3rd rd... Jerry Jones is on record saying Hackenburg was the QB they were targeting and Prescott was the next QB after Hack

3: Lynch looks terrible right now.. So I am not going to crucify the Jets for taking Hackenburg.. I think Petty is gonna be the guy but he will at bare minimum give Hack more time to be seasoned...

Brick, it wasn't bad luck that we passed on Lynch for Hack. That was all mgt overthinking the room.

Hack is the biggest project this side of Tim Tebow. And we passed on a 6'5 240 lb stud with wheels and a cannon, who also led Memphis into their best ever seasons, for said project who did half as much with twice the talent around him in college.

What I don't agree on is lamenting over Dak. He was a 4th rounder so it's not like anyone saw this coming. Personally, I was advocating for Brissett in the middle rounds if we passed on Lynch in the first. But the lamenting over Dak is 100% hindsight.

Your referring to me obviously or I'm one of them atleast and that's fine. Call it luck or by chance or fate or great scouting or whatever but it would just be nice to have the chips fall our way. That's all and it just doesn't seem to be the case.

See above post. Same applies to this one.

Well, Lynch hasn't proven anything yet, either. He had questions in the draft, too, as evidenced by so many teams passing on him. I do like Paxton's upside, but he's no more of a certainty of being the "answer" as Petty or Hackenberg are. (Costello's article in the Post about Hackenberg already being a bad pick is absurd journalism at its heighth. Nobody knows anything about how these players will end up, despite claiming to already know).
