I can relate to all of that. I worked for a contracting company in Rochester for a few years. I hated doing roofs. It wasn't the heights that bothered me it was working on those inclines that killed my ankles. I walked into my boss's office one day and said look, how about from now on I sell these jobs and you get someone else to do them. I was much happier after that. My wife and I bought this place 45 years ago knowing we would be doing a little remodeling. Guess what ? 45 years later I'm still remodeling. I see no end in sight.
Yup. and I’ve done my roof twice. First time I carried up full shingle bundles. Second time half bundles. Had part time help each time. Third time, my wife is paying someone to do it

29 years later, it’s just a fixer upper again

my favorite is when I put in a Buderus boiler. German made, top of the line. Burns so hot the flame is blue. They were going in all the rich peoples houses that I worked at. Cost probably triple what a normal boiler cost

still going strong, but they’re discontinuing them so not making parts anymore. So if something goes wrong I’m screwed

and because everything costs stupid money now, a shitty boiler will cost me now , more than the Buderus cost when I got it.

so I’ll have to pay more money for a shittier product

I can appreciate that as I happen to have a fuel oil furnace that parts are no longer available for. If it goes I'll be in the same boat as you.

Buderus boiler parts, for models like GB142, Logamax, G215, and Greenstar, include electronic components (sensors, electrodes, control boards), mechanical parts (pumps, valves, gaskets, igniters, heat exchangers, burners, fans, sensors), and various seals and accessories, available from HVAC suppliers, online marketplaces (eBay, Amazon), and specialized part distributors, often requiring your specific model number for accurate ordering. Key parts often needed are sensors, ignition parts, heat exchanger seals, and control modules, with diagrams available for older models like the G215 series.
Common Buderus Parts
Electronic Components: Temperature Sensors, Electrodes (Ignition/Ionization), Control Boards (AM10), Transformers, Pressure Sensors.
Mechanical Components: Pumps, Fans, Burner Parts (Orifices, Seals, Gaskets), Heat Exchanger Seals, Valves (Radiator, Gas, Safety), Siphons, Vents, Thermometers.
Accessories: Controllers (RC10), Refill Kits, Sight Glass Kits, Thermostat Parts, Vent Adapters.
Where to Find Parts
HVAC Suppliers: F.W. Webb, APR Supply, Crescent Parts, Blackhawk Supply, SupplyHouse.com.
Online Marketplaces: eBay, Amazon.
Specialized Sites: Bosch Home Comfort for diagrams, PHC Parts.

Thanks BS. The kid who services mine needed a gasket this year and had to search most of those places to get one for $40. None of the local places could get it. Bosch bought them out so there’s not much care about old Buderus parts

anybody ho installed this model had to take a special class and buy a $1500 tool kit so I’m sure those guys aren’t happy either. The guy that installed mine was clearly doing his first one and after he was done he told me he doesn’t service them. So I had to find someone else for that. Nice :(
