This is why I doubt the Jets go OL early. And if they do, either Fant or Becton is dealt.
i believe a tackle in the 1st round means they've completely fallen out of love with becton & will move on from him for whatever they can get..
fant was a rock for us on the left side last season & he's what only 31 or about to be?? that's relatively young for a tackle & he really hasn't played that much football yet.. i would be disappointed to see him moved..
Fant is more suited for LT, anyway. He's more athletic, less of a typical drive blocking RT who can help the run game. It does make me wonder if a Becton move to RT is possible, as well, but my guess would be they move on from him entirely or start him at LT.
The Jets love versatility and George Fant whole a quality LT, is a garbage RT . We know Becton can be a quality LT and we’re optimistic that because of his drive blocking abilities he could be a solid to quality RT . I prefer to trade Fant if someone has to go and if we can obtain the right compensation. Because of this, the OT targets would have to be either Neal or Penning because INO Ikem is a better OG/RT PROSPECT while the other 2 guys have the capability to play anywhere along the OL except center.
It probably would've been lower if Wilson played better last season.

IMO, If we pick a T early, then we are moving Fant...for all the right reasons.
JD was right on the Fant signing... in fact, he actually outplayed his contract. Being that he is only 29 as we speak, and a proven commodity as a superior LT, JD is poised to sell that asset at the height of it's value.
i won't be excited to see him moved, but i will be if 1 Fant turns into a 3rd and 4th... who will later be known as C- Cam Jurgens and G - Cole Strange... with the early pick at RT, The New York Sky Scrapers will be complete for a long time.
I like your thinking, and it would signal JD's confidence in Becton being/getting all of the way back. I doubt, however that we grab both C's, as they in my mind are the same guy. Lots of interesting 3rd and 4th round prospects that would help in DB, WR and LB rooms. JMHO.
The reason I like Iggy at #4 is JD (which could be smokescreen) is said to want him. IMHO Penning would be ideal at RT with pick #10.

we are going to be the team no contender wants to play in December... and we might be one of the contenders
keep in mind, Strange is a guard who can and has played Center... he might be a project at C, but a starter at guard very quickly. same with Jurgens as a Center, and the beauty is neither needs to play out of the gate!
