you know your a bad franchise when you have not been to the SB since 1969 and the panthers who have only been around 20 years have been to 2 already.

Yes, but I'd rather be 1-0 than 0-2

Tampa, Seattle, Carolina. 6 SB appearances between them. Three franchises that didn't exist when we had our last and only. Sad

Much rather not go, than to be 5 point favorites and get my ass kicked

Cursed?

The Jets are coming off a 10-6 season from 4-12. And they made two straight AFC Championships in 2009 and 2010. Not exactly ancient history. Historically, the Jets have been more middle of the pack in the league than anything.

If we're cursed, then so is half the NFL.

Well, we hope it's better now. Every fan always has ultra confidence in any new front office, not that they have much evidence to prove it. They certainly don't with MacCagnan/Bowles. It's just blind faith in their owner. And our owner coincidentally has made a lot of very dumb hiring decisions since owning this team. Herm Edwards, Eric Mangini, Mike Tannenbaum, John Idzik, just to name a few.

My point is there's good reason to be skeptical about anything Woody does. He hasn't exactly been shooting aces as the owner of the NYJ. He doesn't appear to be much better than Leon Hess.

well i can only speak for myself but i enjoyed the hell out of 2009 & 2010..

best consecutive years for me as a jets fan in my entire life..

not apologizing for how badly things fell apart under ryan with the jets but i'm not going to pretend years one & two didn't happen either..

it's a lot easier to make the playoffs when you don't have NE in your division. it's definitely easier to make the playoffs when your divisional rivals are tampa, atlanta and new orleans.

so while carolina deserves credit for making the SB twice, you can't make an apples-to-apples comparison because more often than not, you need to win your division and rack up a top record to get some level of home field to make the SB. and being in NE's division makes that significantly more difficult than playing in the NFC South.

Since Woody Johnson purchased the NY Jets in 2000:

*The Jets have had 9 winning seasons out of 16, including an 11-5 record, as well as going 10-6 four times.

*The Jets have reached the playoffs 6 times, and some of those were under the villains Herm Edwards, Eric Mangini, and Mike Tannenbaum.

*The Jets made the AFC Championship game in back to back seasons in 2009 and 2010 under Rex Ryan.

*After consulting two highly respected football minds in Ron Wolf and Charlie Casserly, the Jets (Woody) hired Mike Maccagnan, who promptly brought in a starting QB who had a career year, rebuilt the secondary with Revis, Cro and Skrine, signed a LG in Carpenter who had a very good year, and committed highway robbery in trading a 5th round draft pick for Brandon Marshall. (Nice hire, Woody).

*Hired one of the hottest coaches on the market in Todd Bowles, who turned around a 4-12 team into a 10-6 team, which in any other year would've been a trip to the playoffs had it not been for the logjam in the AFC this past season.

So go ahead...carry on with the Same Ol' Jets, our owner's a "big stupid dummy" rhetoric. The facts will always prove you wrong.

And those are impressive facts?! KMA. Woody is a big, stupid, dummy, and I can't imagine how much smarter you are for wanting to have his children.

You seem to forget that they won the AFC east only once during the Woody's ownership. Kind of a reasonable expectation to think they would have won the division more than once in 16 years, don't ya think?

Here are their records since Woody owned the team:

2000 - 9-7. Al Groh inherited and excellent and talented team from Bill Parcells and screwed the pooch in his only season.

2001 - 10-6 Under the "joke" Herm Edwards. He's much better at ESPN than he is coaching.

2002 - 9-7 Their record went DOWN but they managed to win the division out of a 3 way tie breaker. Whoopdy f*ckin doo.

2003 - Classic and Terry f*ck up. Lost just about all of their decent players and 6-10. Putrid.

2004 - 10-6 - Finished losing what? Their last two straight? Really inspiring.

2005 - 4-12 - The real Herm Edwards finally stands up

2006 - 10-6 - Eric Mangini managed to lot with really not all that much. Most fans thought we had something, but quickly learned it was all fools gold.

2007 - 4-12 - had almost ZERO talent on that team

2008- 9-7 - Spent a LOT of money in free agency. But the real Eric Mangini finally stands up and the Jets lose 4 out of their last 5 games and miss the playoffs.

2009- 9-7 - Rex Ryan to the rescue. The ONLY good hiring Woody ever made. Did so much with that team . MUCH more than anyone could have seen/expected.

2010 - 11-5- Very good year and most of you homers personally got him fired with all your complaining. Blaming ZERO talent on him when the fact, Woody was busy hiring complete idiots as General Managers.

2011 - 8-8 - Tanny screws Rex by letting all of their decent talent leave or retire. Absolutely ZERO replacements.

2012 - 6-10 - ZERO talent on the team and it showed.

2013 - 8-8 - Rex Ryan's BEST season as a HC. Truly a feat to take that little talent to a .500 record. Beat THREE teams with a winning record that season.

2014 - 4-12 - John Idzik's incompetence sets up Rex for total failure. And he succeeded.

2015 - 10-6 - Todd Bowles has the playoffs by the short and curlies, and than folds up like a lawn chair in the final game. Gets beaten by the Jets new arch nemesis not once, but TWICE. I got to tell you, you fans are just so smart:global (33):

All told, a combined record of 117 - 123. An overall LOSING record and only ONE division title. And guess what???????

That VERY MUCH DOES constitute "BIG, STUPID, DUMMY" as you call it, and perhaps may I suggest you're one of them for supporting that boob.

If there was any question as to whether or not Mainejet could respond to posts like an adult, free of personal attacks and vitriol...

I believe that question's been answered. I knew you wouldn't let us down.

Jets Fans United gives new meaning to the term "leniency". Some people simply cannot survive in an environment where their opinions are called out. They must lash out with personal attacks because they know no other way.

It's sad, really.

MJ - they are right. It wouldn't hurt to at least be respectful once in a while. It's one thing when you get attacked but another when the question is respectful and you insult for no reason.

Soo every coach that goes 9-7 or 10-6 before Rex Ryan is dumb luck, then have bad seasons and the real them shows up. BUT the great Rex Ryan comes in and takes over a 9-7 team and then goes 9-7(with the final two teams throwing in the towel) then 11-5 then has mediocre to bad seasons and it's everyone else fault. That sound very fair and logical.
Lets forget about how Rex took over a 9-7 team with a top 5 defense and turned them into 8-8 team with a probowl QB.
