In this thread we post our predictions

Brady Suspension - 4 games

Locker Room Staff Suspension - season or more

Draft Pick Forfeiture - 3rd round pick in 2016

Pat Fine - $5 million - cost of the Ted Wells report

Other amusing punishment - Brady must play with rock hard balls in 2016, Giselle EXHUBERANT!!!

This would be a better statement!!

Locker room guys lose job
Club gets largest fine Goodell can muster
Loss of one or two 4th to 7th round draft choices
Brady fined, no suspension

However, if the scenarios you guys are putting out come to pass, that is the end of this version of their dynasty and it's going to be a dogfight in this division for the foreseeable future

One way or another, I'm just hoping for a swift end to this so the focus returns to the Jets, not the Patriots

Goodell has shown that he is all over the map with his punishments. He has also shown that he is willing to stroke Bob Kraft's c*ck. That's why they are best buddies.

If I was forced to guess about this punishment, I would say knowing Goodell's penchant for letting the patsies off mildly:

1) 2 games for Brady
2) 8 games for Bellichick
3) at LEAST forfeiture of one 1st round draft choice.
4) An undisclosed fine to Brady, Bellichick, and Kraft.
5) A very stern warning coming from Goodell this time outlining what the punishment will be if the Patsies do ANYTHING even slightly outside the realm of the completely legal.

Brady - 4 games reduced to 2 on appeal;

Ball boys - lifetime ban

Belicheat - nothing as the report seems to absolve him;

Team - $500K fine and loss of a 4th round pick

I'm going to assume that what you wrote is an attempt at humor.

I never stated that this would be an appropriate and correct punishment - that's not what the thread creator asked for. But you have to separate reality from fantasy (which seems to be difficult for some posters here to do) . I based this on my view of Goodell considering:

His prior punishments that he has meted out;

What I have read about what the report said and,

His relationship with Kraft.

If it were up to me, I would suspend Brady for the year; Belicheat would be suspended indefinitely (we're talking years); Fine the team the highest amount possible; Ban Kraft from speaking to the media forever; Dock them draft picks; and finally, something special for Gisele.

Again, reality and fantasy are 2 very separate worlds. Lets keep them straight.

I think there are some very important points to be made when considering the level of punishment and to whom it will be levied at:

1- prior "conviction" - The Spygate scandal and how it was dealt with are critical here and it is not being talked about enough. In Goodell's first year he had to deal with a cheating scandal so severe that he fined the HC $500,000 and docked the team at least one high draft pick. Pretty severe right? I think what was more telling as to the extent of the Patriots' cheating was that Goodell had the evidence immediately destroyed knowing full well how damaging it would be and the evidence destruction would be portrayed. I also think at that point he told Kraft and Belicheck that that was it, there will be no more cheating no matter how minor.
2- 31 other owners - See above. I think the true extent of the cheating in Spygate was swept under the rug for the good of the 'shield'. I don't think any of them wanted any vacated championships or asterisks in the record books. I think with this and why it is only been limited to Brady is because by implicating the real culprit, it would bring into focus Spygate once again and how it was not dealt with the first time around.
3- the real culprit -Which brings me to Belicheck. I have said it before on this forum, but there is no way in this world that Belicheck wasn't aware that this was going on. For a guy who is angling for every possible advantage, a guy who is praised for having his stamp on everything that is football related is all of a sudden in the dark about something that if you believe the Sharp report on fumbling, is such an advantage blows my mind. A fumble once every 187 offensive snap vs the league average of approx. once every 105 offensive snaps. You mean to tell me that Belicheck didn't wonder how his team can be such an incredible statistical outlier without knowing or questioning the why?

I'm getting pretty tired of the whole 'jealousy' argument that Pat and talking head apologists use, and I just hope that Goodell and the rest of the owners take a stand here.

If the ball boys get a lifetime ban for doing what they were instructed to do by Brady, and Brady gets only gets 2 games, that will be a travesty.

Mangini started out as a ball boy, and who knows what these guys were aspiring to be in the league...perhaps they too had goals like that. But to save his face by throwing guys under the bus forever, who would have left the balls as they were if not instructed to do otherwise is a crime. He serves a suspension and goes to the HOF, and they are forever expelled...what were they going to do? Report Tom Brady for cheating? LOL.

I agree with Willie's Dad. I don't see Goodell levying a stiff penalty against the Patriots because of the relationship between Kraft and Goodell. Kraft practically runs the league. It was Brady along with Manning that lobbied to allow QBs to work with the balls prior to the game.

I think Brady gets a 2 game suspension. I think that the ball boy and equip guys are suspended without pay for 6 games. I think he fines the Pats some small amount like 200K or something. The don't lose any draft picks.

I am a cynic, but the Pats are the league darlings and the marquee franchise. Whether they cheated or not, I don't believe the league wants to take a strong stance against them. It will hurt the NFL brand. The put so much stock, media time, and even rule changes to benefit the Patriots that I don't see them coming down hard on them. I think they might want to, but they won't.

Goodell goes tough on them. Brady has to play with a legally inflated football, McNally and Jastremski get canned, and Kraft gets fined the cost of the first round of drinks the next time he and Goodell party together.
