It's gonna be painful to watch, but I'm supportive of a tear down. Bye bye Brandon Marshall, Marcus Gilchrist, Darrelle Revis, David Harris, Sheldon Richardson, Breno Giacomini, Nick Mangold, Ryan Clady, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and maybe even Matt Forte.

The 2017 draft should focus heavily on drafting OT's and a Center. Then 2018 can be more defense heavy. Secondary and LB's. We can get an extended look at Petty and Hackenberg for two years to be sure of what they've got. Forget Trubisky or Kizer.

Agreed..

We need to cut these guys build some cap money for players that are young and fit our needs

The absolute gotta go players and need to be cut players
1. Revis - 9.3 Million
2. Clady - 10 Million
3. B. Marshall - 7.5 Million
4. Gilchrist - 4.625 Million
5. Giacomini - 4. 5 Million
6. E. Henderson - 2.75 Million
7 - Fitzpatrcik - 0

This gives us 34.2 million in Cap space... Now the tough decisions

Mangold - Cut or Retructure - Could save us 9.075 Million if cut
Richardson - Cut or try and trade - Could save us 8.069 Million
Folk - could save us 3 Million
Harris - Cut or restructure - Could save us 6.5 Million

These moves alone would put us 60 Million Under the cap.... And honestly Outside of Richardson being hugely talented the only player at of all of them I see losing that would hurt some part of the team is Harris... His play has been very good this year... Though I am not happy with them using him in coverage he still brings something to the defense

Thoughts?

The cap should increase by another 10 million or so next year so that should also help us in signing free agents.

Look at the Giants, they spent on free agency and now have a top defense. They are looking like a team ready for a long post season run. We can do the same, just need to spend wiser. Revis was too old to get the $ we gave him. We should spend on people in their prime not where their best years are behind them.

Im okay cutting those guys except for Marshall. Not sure why people are so down on him. He's a mismatch and will help any qb next year. Yes he has quit but I think he'll be a good contributor next year. He has a lot left
in the tank.

I say cut Harris and Mangold.

I say don't cut Harris and Mangold as they are leaders and vets that have huge locker impact in the locker room. Revis is a goner. We can get 6 young players from the draft and start the rebuild from there. Let Petty, Hack have a season to develop. Next year we will be luck to win 5 games, so let the rebuild begin.

Because he is dogging it too... and frankly some of the younger guys can step in and play just as hard. Also, if your going to blow this up and frankly I am on board with that - Sack and others - then please start with the FKING OL... it needs a major overhaul.

I would restructure MG and harris and if they refuse, cut them. I wouldn't even entertain revis as a FS because I think he is lost two (2) steps. AS for Pryor, I just might trade him, he has regressed and STILL hasn't learn how to take better angles in coverage which was the knock on him in college - besides he looks slower then last year.

One more point, how many of you think this team is physically fit? I for one do not. Thoughts?

my gut says keep Mangold and Harris but we need a friendly restructure for both.... We need to reduce their cap hits next year from the combined 15.6 Million to around 9-10 million.. We do that and Cut everyone elseand the cap savings is around 50 millon to resign some guys and try and get younger, faster and hopefully productive in other spots

I rather keep Decker over Marshall.... Keeping both will stunt the growth of someone.... Decker is the younger cheaper vet that alrady knows how to work the slot.... So we would have Enunwa and Anderson on the outside with Decker in the slot..... We can move Enunwa inside with Decker and have Peake and Anderson on the outside in a 4 WR set.... I thinnk I prefer that... Marshall tends to have the drops when he plays inside.

I'd keep Decker. He's on a reasonable contract, he's got a few good years left, and he's a great guy.

Cutting Marshall hurts, but that's part of the process. Nobody said it wouldn't hurt to part with some. But when you decide to rebuild, you've gotta dump salary and get younger. If the Jets can manage some FA's in their prime years on cheap contracts, that'll act as a stopgap. We don't need to make splashy FA moves for at least a couple of more years.

We need to accept 4-12 for a few more years after this year's 4-12.

I agree with the premise of this thread. I don't disagree that there are some talented players on the roster now, but older players need to be jettisoned, and overall, I wouldn't lose sleep about losing anyone, because despite whatever talent they may have, they haven't coalesced into a good team unit; they don't push one another to greater heights. That is an element which has been missing for a while.

Also agree that Jets fans are impatient (although I would temper that by saying that we have been waiting a long time, so long term patience, but in the short term, yes, we have a fickle fan base). But I think that they don't necessarily have to listen to the MOST impatient of the fan base, your WFAN caller types. They can take a longer term approach and I think most will be ok with it, even if we all complain week to week about how it is going.

And it all comes down to QB; if Petty is good, we will be good. He will win us games.

I'm 45 and have seen all of that too... I agree I think we have some very talented young guys on this team and its time to ride with them.

Below is the core of the team... We need Petty or Hack to be the guy if not then we will be top 10 picking again in 2018 and get a QB

QB - Petty and Hack
RB - Powell
WR - Enunwa, Anderson, Peake,
OL - Winters, Carpenter and only for RT QVale and SHell
TE - ASJ Utilize this guy he is talented

DL - Williams, Simon, MO
LB - Jenkins and Lee
CB - Burris, Willam
S - Pryor, Middleton and Miles

Are you sure you are not a colts fan at 45 sorry could not help myself

Not sure on these guards folks

You referring to Winters and Carpenter? I think they've been the only bright spots on the line this year. I have no problem with either, and expect both to be back. Although Winters could bolt for $$$ elsewhere.

Stud: By virtue of his teammates playing so poorly, the strong run blocking of James Carpenter made him an easy pick.

When a line is bad often it makes AVG players look good

Carpenter is good but winters needs more work
