Good post, HYATT, on all points.

I'm hoping the issue of the stud pass rusher may already be solved with a current player on the team. The Que
The past two years Coples has been near the top of the league in QB hurries, and QB hits. He always seemed to be a half second late in finishing off the sack.
IMO there is a reason for that. Last year the Jets arguably had the worst DB's in the NFL. WR's were open withing 2-3 steps of the LOS. it was only taking QB's 1.5 -2 seconds to find a wide open WR. This year the Jets will arguably have the best DB's in the NFL.
In 1-1 Revis takes out #1 , Cro takes out #2 . it is going to take considerably longer then 1.5-2 seconds for QB's to find a WR. That should give Coples the time to finish the QB. In his walk year, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Coples with 11-12 sacks
He may have wrote that, but the Chargers dangling of Rivers is for the Titans and Bucs...with both those pics on the block and both needing a franchise QB...(and Arians and Rivers being a good match)...the back door rumors of Rivers being available isn't for a slight move up...its for a big one. Same goes for brees. if they trade their franchise QB, it will be to be 100% sure they get their replacement. Rivers and Brees will be offered to Titans and Bucs first, it will only be if the 5 teams ahead of us say no that the offer even makes it to us. I, personally, dont feel people will say no 5 times before us to Rivers and Brees being on the block...but you never know...

I have trouble believing SD is dangling Rivers to get a shot at him.
If anyone, it's Winston they are likely to be trying to angle for, by offering up one of the top 5 or 6 Elite QBs in this league.
If SD was looking to acquire the runner-up pick in this draft and likely be unable to get Winston, they may well be looking at positioning themselves to trade back and acquire a 2016 draft pick near the top of Rd 1 that would give them ammunition to trade up in next year's draft to take Conner Cook, from Michigan St.i don't think the chargers are necessarily angling for a new QB.
they have rivers on the last year of his deal. rivers has a large family (7 kids) he doesn't want to uproot and there are questions about whether SD will be moving to LA. so right now, he's not willing to sign an extension due to the uncertainty of the franchise. maybe the LA-life is not appealing to him.
so SD may seek to trade him now rather than let him walk away next year. in which case, they need a new QB, so they could have interest in mariota or winston. rivers is from alabama and his hometown is only a couple hours from nashville. hence the rumors with tennessee make sense - play for whisenhut (his OC in SD) and move close to his hometown. SD gets the 2nd pick of the draft, allowing them to look for a replacement.
