NFLDOTCOM -- Are the Browns preparing for another trade down in the first round?

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that Cleveland's front office -- picking No. 8 overall -- has spoken with a handful of teams hoping to move up the board for Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott.

The Giants (No. 10), Bears (No. 11) and Dolphins (No. 13) all make sense as trade partners.

Elliott doesn't see himself falling past Chicago, telling The Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday that the Bears are in love with him. Chicago, though, can't expect the draft's top runner to fall that far. It's possible Elliott doesn't get past the Cowboys at No. 4.

The Giants and Dolphins could both use a new featured back. So could the talent-needy Browns, but VP of football operations Sashi Brown told reporters that Cleveland is "locked in" on a specific player at No. 8. Per Brown, the club will try to shop the pick if that player is gone or if someone "blows our socks off," per The Plain Dealer.

When Cleveland netted a bounty of picks by trading No. 2 overall to the Eagles, the Browns made it clear they might not be done wheeling and dealing. At some stage, though, you need to swing and hit on players.

As for Elliott, he's been a steady climber in the hours leading up to Thursday night's first round. We don't expect him to wait long for the phone to ring.

There's nobody worth taking at #8 that you pay that price for to move up. Elliott is a very nice RB prospect, but if someone actually trades up with Cleveland and takes, say a Paxton Lynch, they are idiots. Paxton Lynch is NOT a top 10 pick. I have doubts that he's even a first round draft pick. He needs a LOT of development at the NFL level, despite his great upside.

I have to laugh at this one...
Dolphins one of the teams looking to reclaim their original pick?

trade down with Philadelphia acquired Byron Maxwell & Kiko Alonso along with Eagles 13th Overall selection...

now they will have to pony up addition pick(s) to get the No. 8 back from Cleveland so they can draft Ezekiel Elliot, lmao what is this Draft Day the movie... :global (12):

Cowboys are taking Elliot.

right now majority of the mocks so called experts and fans alike have two prospects not name Elliot...

Jalen Ramsey and Joey Bosa but for the life of me neither are it and feel the Cowboys are primed to trade down so they can trade back into the 1st... Ramsey could go to either the Chargers or 49ers while the Jags look to be locked in on Bosa...

what I am hearing they really like Connor Cook to be the second first rounder...
that means to trade down they are giving up on the Elliot, Ramsey and Bosa sweepstakes... a team like the Bears at No. 11 makes a mark who wants Elliot... at No. 11 these three players could be taken: Jack Conklin, DeForest Buckner, or Corey Coleman whose stock has soared the last few days...
