My take from 'across the pond':
L Williams: He is about to be due big bucks and we may not want to place spending emphasis on DT. But I'm only letting him go for at least a third quarter #1 pick, even if we have to throw in our third or fourth as makeweight. I'm tired of letting our 1st rounders go for a 6th rounder or less, and we need a 1st round pick to add to our own to guarantee getting a good LT and C, because O linemen are at a premium at least in rarity if not in salary. You have to build your O line through the draft at the moment, free agency gets you Osemele.
Osemele: Seems to me the right thing to do here is offer him a one year 'prove-it' extension on a lower salary and incentives, on the basis that if he takes it we will let him have his shoulder op immediately. It is unfair for us to play him through injury and then discard him like a used Kleenex, but it is also unfair for him to spend a year on his big contract rehabbing and then immediately go somewhere else for a payday. Like I said, O linemen are at a premium and we will not get better depth than a fit Osemele in one season.
L Bell: We are the only franchise prepared to pay his salary, and he hasn't shown any interest in going to a contender for less money. Besides he has shown willingness to earn the money and after a season behind our O line he certainly will have done. He is also one of the few reasons for continueing to watch the Jets offense.
T Johnson: Nobody else wants a sub-standard overpaid CB from one of the worst franchises in the NFL. In fairness he has fought to win his place back, though I'm not sure why he is so slow. Perhaps he takes his wallet with him onto the field. In any case, I think we just have to try to get the best out of him and get him back to average CB play.
R Anderson: Happy to keep him but he is not an essential piece, there is no shortage of capable wideouts. If somebody makes a stupid offer...
Poole, Jenkins.... : If somebody is doing a competent job for a sensible salary we need to keep them, the draft is always risky and there is no guarantee we will even be able to obtain adequate replacements.
Khalil: Remove the wheels from his roller skates.....
