Players who should be on the Jets trade block right now

There is
Some of this makes sense but bearing in mind the Jets dismal record in the draft getting rid of guys who can contribute in exchange for a pig in a poke could result in total meltdown. Why would somebody give up a #1 for Lev Bell when he is on a salary that only the Jets are prepared to pay?

There is always one sucker in every league

My take from 'across the pond':

L Williams: He is about to be due big bucks and we may not want to place spending emphasis on DT. But I'm only letting him go for at least a third quarter #1 pick, even if we have to throw in our third or fourth as makeweight. I'm tired of letting our 1st rounders go for a 6th rounder or less, and we need a 1st round pick to add to our own to guarantee getting a good LT and C, because O linemen are at a premium at least in rarity if not in salary. You have to build your O line through the draft at the moment, free agency gets you Osemele.

Osemele: Seems to me the right thing to do here is offer him a one year 'prove-it' extension on a lower salary and incentives, on the basis that if he takes it we will let him have his shoulder op immediately. It is unfair for us to play him through injury and then discard him like a used Kleenex, but it is also unfair for him to spend a year on his big contract rehabbing and then immediately go somewhere else for a payday. Like I said, O linemen are at a premium and we will not get better depth than a fit Osemele in one season.

L Bell: We are the only franchise prepared to pay his salary, and he hasn't shown any interest in going to a contender for less money. Besides he has shown willingness to earn the money and after a season behind our O line he certainly will have done. He is also one of the few reasons for continueing to watch the Jets offense.

T Johnson: Nobody else wants a sub-standard overpaid CB from one of the worst franchises in the NFL. In fairness he has fought to win his place back, though I'm not sure why he is so slow. Perhaps he takes his wallet with him onto the field. In any case, I think we just have to try to get the best out of him and get him back to average CB play.

R Anderson: Happy to keep him but he is not an essential piece, there is no shortage of capable wideouts. If somebody makes a stupid offer...

Poole, Jenkins.... : If somebody is doing a competent job for a sensible salary we need to keep them, the draft is always risky and there is no guarantee we will even be able to obtain adequate replacements.

Khalil: Remove the wheels from his roller skates.....

Anybody not named Darnold or Bell or Mosley or Adams. Other then that, trade them all!

I would say Darnold is the only one I would build around. If I could get a 1st or 2nd round pick each for Bell (2nd), Mosley (1st) and Adams (1st) then I would do that in a heartbeat. Throw in a 3rd for Robby and 4th for Leo. That could turn this teams talent around immediately and make this team real young to grow with. Hewitt can play close enough to Mosley's level. Josh Adams can take over for Bell and we already have Marcus Maye.

Bell really is not being overpaid. Under $9 mill this season, $13 mill per year avg .
He's the best RB in the league but is being wasted on this team. Gurley, with the bad knees and Zeke are being paid more and several others will surpass him as soon as they enter their option years or extensions.
He would definitely bring a first round pick.
But trading Bell and Anderson would leave Darnold with absolutely no weapons.
Tearing it all down makes no sense. We have 2 more years of Darnold on the cheap, then his option year followed by a huge second contract. Really 1 and his option. There is very little chance that the NFL will have a 2021 season with the players and owners being so far apart on the next CBA.

Anyone not named Darnold, Bell, Mosley, Adams or Crowder should be on the trading block.

Depends. If the intent is to TRULY start over? Then start over in earnest. That means dumping every asset we have to generate draft picks. It also means ownership needs to tell the fan base that this is happening. That we are rebuilding and will suck for a few years. (With that last part, lots of us would argue that we've been rebuilding since the 1968-69 season).

In theory, I guess Darnold would be the only untouchable. Problem is that his "body of work" is too limited to get an accurate opinion as to whether he will be a franchise QB or not. But my opinion? From what I've seen in the game's he's played, Darnold does not thrill me. Seems mistake prone and doesn't have the arm strength I though he did. Plus now, after the debacle with NE, he might be damaged/done beyond repair.

I agree with you. As for no 2021 season, if that's true, do the cheatah s still get a Superbowl victory for that year since everyone knows they would have won anyway? If not then I vote for no season

pretty much agree. I think Bells salary is not too bad anyway. Isn't it less than Pittsburgh offered? And while Pittsburgh can't beat the cheetahs either, I'd still rather play there even for half price
