Just interested in seeing what everyone thinks of each position on this current 2016 roster... Humor me, take this template (copy & paste) with your player(s) to see your point of view of the core talent on this team... Tearing down the current roster depth chart to it's simplest form, each position has a numerical next to it of how many players you can have per position...
Please don't debate each other's core roster here as want your perspective on the building blocks currently in house on the state of the team... Example: I believe since Wesley Johnson is a RFA this upcoming off season we are in the perfect scenario to draft the new center for this team, while having a 1 year bridge center to work the new guy in... Figure 1000 snaps in a season, Wesley Johnson would command the majority of 75%, giving the rookie 25% to acclimate to this level of game speed while gaining the much needed reps to learn on the job so to speak... I really do believe Nick Mangold who has been piling up the injuries in the last three years is ready to retire if not on his own, the Jets management might be ready to move on from him...
So the basis of this experiment here is for all the members to fill out the their own view of who on our current roster is our core roster moving forward passed this year... Then I will take the consensus and create a new thread to discuss and debate the overall JFU's core roster... Then we can also discuss and debate do we need to draft, sign free agents or retain current player(s) to the core roster as we move forward...
Everyone is constantly at wits end about player(s) on and off the field antics figure we put it to some good use by doing this project...
This is my core roster:
QB: Bryce Petty, Christian Hackenberg
RB: Bilal Powell
WR: Quincy Enunwa, Robby Anderson, Jalin Marshall, Charone Peake
TE: Eric Tomlinson
OT: Brent Qvale, Brandon Shell
OG: James Carpenter, Brian Winters
OC: Wesley Johnson
DE: Leonard Williams, Muhammad Wilkerson
NT: Deon Simon
OLB: Lorenzo Mauldin, Jordan Jenkins
MLB: Darron Lee, Bruce Carter
CB: Marcus Williams, Dexter McDougle
DB: Juston Burris
FS: Marcus Gilchrist
SS: Calvin Pryor
I believe from this bunch we can create a winner moving forward... Players either currently on the practice squad along with players that went on IR this year could be additions to this core roster while a solid draft and a couple young veteran talent from free agency on one to no more than three year deals will allow us to build for the immediate and long term future of this organization but this is me, what say you?
As for special teams: kickers, punters and long snappers basically a dime a dozen out there and not a concern in this mock report...
