Let me start off and say this is just my opinion but looking at the roster and what holes we can fill through the draft not only for the immediate future but long term... Like everyone there are plenty of free agents entering the market this upcoming off season, but there are also plenty of moves that we need to make both in scheme as well as roster adjustments... Have to say so far scouting the NCAA season there have been a lot of pleasant surprises throughout the draft class... We know a few things, head coach Todd Bowles loves his universal defensive players from linebackers to corners and safeties to play sideline to sideline... There are a couple of those players in this draft that we can take advantage of to continue the development of this roster...
Our current roster has 17 impending free agents after this year:
Josh McCown, Morris Claiborne, Wesley Johnson, Demario Davis, Austin Seferian Jenkins, Mike Pennel, Kony Ealy, Chandler Catanzaro, Jonathan Harrison, Bruce Carter, David Bass, Jeremy Kerley, Julian Stanford, Terrence Brooks, Chris Gragg, Robert Nelson Jr., Dakota Dozier...
We have a few Restricted Free Agents as well:
Brent Qvale, Neal Sterling, Xavier Cooper, Quincy Enunwa, Robenson Therezie
We also have Exclusive-Rights Free Agents:
Eric Tomlinson, Freddie Bishop, Doug Middleton, Lawrence Thomas, JoJo Natson
In bold, I expect are locks to return, in italic are players that we will offer some type of contract but are 50/50 to return... Because I believe both Petty and Hackenberg are our future at the QB position re-signing McCown isn't or shouldn't be in the team's cards unless they are hiring to be a coach of some sorts...
Getting back to the topic these are the possible prospects the Jets could seek:

Getting back to the topic these are the possible prospects the Jets could seek:
- LB Roquon Smith, Georgia {1st} (MLB) versatile linebacker at this level would be an ideal inside linebacker to tandem with Darron Lee
- ER Lorenzo Carter, Georgia {2nd} very athletic edge rusher would be an upgrade over the Lorenzo Mauldin debacle
- CB Tarvarus McFadden, FSU {2nd} man cover corner that can be left on an island
- CB Kevin Tolliver II, LSU {3rd} man cover corner who has impressive length
- OT Brandon Parker, NC A&T {4th} (LT) this year's sleeper pick, has the athleticism and technique to be a cornerstone
- OG Lester Cotton, Alabama (5th} physical at point of attack, excellent run blocker not a liability in pass protection
- WR Steve Ishmael, Syracuse {6th} possession receiver, with good route running ability
