I'm not sure what you find so surprising. I've already laid in detail my reason against having another 22 year old CB on this team. It won't be the biggest hole once we sign a FA. Not by a long shot. Look, we just differ in our confidence level of the guys remaining. That's not going to change. I'm quite confident the four guys on our roster can handle the #2 and slot position as well as dime packages. You've essentially written off both Milliner and McDougal, I haven't. And I'm really high on Williams. We'll see what Jets brass does.
We only have 6 picks.

I'am going to agree with Matriculator on this one 55 with all due respect. NO MORE CB's please. mac will sign a top (even two) before the start of the draft. There are options:
Antonio Cromartie
Byron Maxwell
Brandon Flowers
to name a few, alonside the ones we picked in Milliner and mcDougal. The 1st pick should go to whom ever is the best playmaker. I'd lean toward Mariota, Cooper or even Kevin White who has every tool to be a beast in this league as a #1 receiver.

Since Vick is gone, we need a good QB that can compete with Geno & let Mariota sit for a while learning (if we pick him @ 6). I don't want Fritz or Moore, or even Glennon who would cost us a draft pick.
I want Jake Locker 6'3"/235 (26). He has a cannon of an arm, he is a pocket QB who can run out of the pocket, he'll be cheap and he's only 26.

Go Jets...Cyborg

the issue with locker is he is so injury prone...........i would rather fitz or foles

I agree, though the options arent all that great either. But i feel with the current O-Line we have any one can become an immediate injury prone QB instantly.

Big Mac must fortify this O-Line for anyone who's behind center.

Mayock thinks Mariota will be available when we pick at six. But he thinks the Oregon QB has issues which is why we will probably stick with Geno in 2015. He thinks Winston has flaws too but will go first overall and not be there when the Jets select. I agree with Mayock.

I'am sorry, i just can't fathom the new brass just "sticking with Geno". They can't just give up all hope thinking that Geno will turn it around in year three. He needs to have qualified competition. Whether its from a hungry Veteran, Rookie or both.

I just feel Geno must come in with the realistic mind set that the starting role will absolutely not be gift wrapped to him as these past 2 wasted years were.
If he wins a fair QB competition it's because he earned it and i will respect him for it.

I agree with you. I hope they don't just stand pat. I just don't think there is anyone out there that will take the job from geno. The veterans available are not that good. But I do hope there is a legit competition.

I just found it very comforting when asked about Geno in Bowles presser he stated that he was a "Very good college" QB. I strongly sense that he will get the proper evaluation from management that is needed in order to move on or believe something is there.
Mac & Bowles have no ties with Geno in which makes the matter that much more settling IMHO. He will get fairly judged without bias.

Yea. That was a good quote. I do think that Gailey will help Geno though. Let's see. Last year in training camp reports he looked all-world. I think that is what pissed all of us off. He has talent but can't put it together during the game.

We are in a great spot to bring in a new QB. Whether it be, Mariotta, Winston, Glennon or Foles. I just don't want Mallet or Mcnown

EXACTLY! That's why i'am so down on Geno. I won't allow myself to take the bait (especially that years end performance) into thinking he's turned the corner until he showcases it in game. Not just one game, but consistently.

I just feel i have seen enough of him and i'am very ready to move on from him. I think i already did move on. So for future reference, i'm not even going to mention his name any more. lol

The thing is with acquiring either Jake Locker or Sam Bradford, Macagnan must strengthen this O-Line as best as he can. Both of these QB's are Pennington'esque. Excellent ability to place the ball where it needs to be placed, but one tap away from a defense man from losing the season.

Franklin & Bulaga need to be priority if Mac is leaning towards choosing any of these guys.

Wait, wait, did you just compare Locker to Pennington and Bradford? Locker throwing a football is very much like Tebow. Jake Locker went to college as an athlete they converted into a QB...he's not a natural QB or natural thrower of the football. You could give him all day in the pocket and when the football leaves his hand, it's as likely to go to the WR as the owner's box.

He may sign 1 or 2 of those "top" CBs...the problem is, you dont have a "top" CB on that list...

Me too, I said on the McShay thread the Eagles likely wont even have to trade up to get Mariota...I just hope they do and give us Foles in the process.

Mike Mayock: Brett Hundley, Bryce Petty show difficulty in evaluating spread quarterbacks

Everyone expects Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota to come off the board quickly come draft day, but it’s not clear who the third quarterback might be.

Brett Hundley of UCLA and Bryce Petty of Baylor are two contenders for that spot, but Mike Mayock of NFL Network didn’t have much good to say about either one of them during his conference call on Monday. He said both players are indecisive if their first read isn’t available and said Hundley’s pocket awareness is a problem, but said both look like second-round talents.

However, Mayock cushioned that assessment by saying that the biggest difficulty with both players is evaluating how they’ll make the leap from playing in spread systems to the professional game.

“When you watch them within the framework of their offense, they’ve got a long way to go to become pocket quarterbacks. They don’t throw with anticipation. If the first look isn’t there, both of them are hesitant and indecisive which leads to stacks and other problems,” Mayock said. “You want to say you’re going to need at least a redshirt year as a second or third round draft pick, but what they need is live snaps, not seven-on-seven snaps in practice.”

The difficulty in evaluating quarterbacks coming out of these systems was something former Buccaneers General Manager Mark Dominik discussed on Monday’s edition of PFT Live and it will likely continue to be an issue as long as those offenses remain in heavy use at the college level.

This is what I hoping for. A draft day trade with the Eagles bringing us Foles and picks.

That would put a smile on my face. I have been in Foles corner since before he was drafted. He would have been brought in to be groomed and back up Mark if I had my way.

Nick, you ever feel like they never do what we tell them? Worse than my kid and dog.
