A Powell-Matt Forte tandem. Heard last night that Powell was getting offers of $4M per.
The Forte deal is for three years and 12 million, 8 million guaranteed.Do we know what Forte is getting?
I would love to see some 2rb sets if our te is not going to catch more than 3 balls all year.Bilal Powell's three-year deal with the Jets is worth $11.25 million with $6 million guaranteed.
That's only a little less than Matt Forte's getting. Powell missed some time with an ankle injury last season but was a great complement to early-down power-runner Chris Ivory when healthy. He should form a similar tandem with Forte. That leaves Khiry Robinson to fight for scraps.

So technically its two years at 4 million per, with a club option for a third year at the same 4 million.
Thats a good, cost efficient deal.

I was told the Patsies were pretty interested. Apparently, they were trying to get him signed? I wonder why that did not come to fruition? I figure the Jets must have matched whatever offer he got from the Patsies, but I'd love to know more of the details.
Thank goodness we got this guy back. Powell seems to be taking bigger steps into the right direction every year. He was utilized more and more towards the end of the season and Gailey saw what kind of potential he has.
IMHO, Bilal is ready to be our every down back once the season rolls around. Matt Forte is up there in age and the Jets don't want to use him up so quickly early on. RB by committee will be the mantra, but i feel Powell will take the lead once training camp is over with.
I always loved him at Louisville. Doesn't go down easily:
We both like Powell, but I feel the coaches have never given him the playing time he deserves. The more he plays, the better he gets. He starts breaking runs, and they bench him, I'm confused.
I don't think he could handle a full season as the only back however.
